rottendollfie Posted Saturday at 07:25 PM I found a really good deal on a Smart Doll, a doll I used to dream about when I was a child. Buying it would fulfill a huge childhood dream, though perhaps it means a little less to me now than it did back then. Still, I REALLY want it. On the other hand, I want an Angel Philia doll even more(my current OBSESSION). I have the money for both, but for some reason, I’m a bit afraid to spend it. It’s a good deal, sure, but it’s still a significant amount of money. Should I buy it or not?
ThatSubaru86 Posted Saturday at 09:37 PM Only you can make that decision. Are all your bills paid and other monetary needs attended to? If yes, I wouldn't be upset buying either.
Dolle44ka Posted Saturday at 09:40 PM Think of the display/storage space. SmD and Angel Philia will also need two separate wardrobes
Tasuke Posted Saturday at 09:43 PM (edited) I Pined after a ♥Mirai♥ for Years there... back around the Late-2000's/Early-2010's. By the Time i was Finally in a Place in life where i could Begin to Welcome "Jumbo♥Hunnies" Home to Me, VOLKS had Dropped their DD Standard Girl "Himari" which i Ended up Making into Exactly the Sort of Girl-Next-Door that i was Envisioning SMART DOLL Mirai to be All of those Years Ago. SMART DOLLs Have their Unique Positive Points... As do Dollfie Dreams. Only You Can be the Final Judge on Exactly what you Value the Most in a ♥Big Ol' Dream-Girl♥ Edited Saturday at 09:50 PM by Tasuke

If you’re buying secondhand from a closed group on Facebook or something, that’s one thing, but Tommy hasn’t made new ones in ages due to the vinyl shortage, and existing ones are being scalped to insane prices ever since they went viral on Chinese social media. There are many members here that want one but can’t even find one for sale. Smart Doll is definitely the easier one to get atm. 1 Make your own signature like this

I just never really thought about this being possible, lol. But to address the original question, I’d echo what ThatSubaru86 said above. If you’re on top of your finances, and the cost is what you’d comfortably call “spending money”, than perhaps it’s okay to just spend it. However, I usually try to narrow down purchases to what I really want when considering expensive doll purchases like lots of outfits, or a doll. I’ll make a list of items I want (or add to Wishlist, etc) and one by one remove items that I don’t “really” want. That usually leaves me with a list of items I’ll actually fully use and appreciate without spending a fortune, even if I could afford it. I personally feel guilty if I spend too much. In this case, the “Wishlist” would be the two dolls, and I’d personally pick the one I really, really wanted more, even if one just narrowly beat the other. Especially since a new doll usually entails new accessories and outfits, so even just one can get expensive quickly. But that’s just me. It’s your money, so it’s ultimately up to you!

Yes, Obitsu scaled back soft vinyl production during the pandemic and never really recovered according to Tommy, who said at Private Room a couple of years ago that he was having trouble getting supply of vinyl parts and that was why releases had slowed down. Releases are still sparse even to this day. Now we have an oil shortage due to the war with Iran, and since vinyl (and all plastics, really) are made from oil, it’s getting harder and more expensive to secure supply. Danny mentioned at one point that some SmD skin tones might get the axe temporarily because of it, although idk if he actually ended up going through with that. 5 Make your own signature like this

The thing I was stressing about that right after I bought this Smart Doll (In the end I bought her), someone else would post a sale post for an AP AND it actually happened. I was debating whether to get her, but I really don’t like the head, and it costs 950 euros—which, I suppose, isn’t that much for an AP (but its another 350 euros for the shipping and so) but it’s still a lot... I don’t know. Maybe I would have bought her if the post had appeared a bit later. I just don’t want to spend all my savings in two days. IDK

I'm getting back into dolls after years away and was shocked at how many doll suppliers (i.ee, Junkyspot) had either no or low Obitsu stock. Made me think the hobby was dying. As for your last post - personally, I would hold out for an AP you really, really want. Even if you have to buy just the head first and find a compatible body later - it would be terrible to buy an AP just because of the brand, only to fall in love with one later that you can't afford and end up missing out on. Not to mention the stress of spending all your savings at once. EDIT: Oh, and congratulations on your new Smart Doll! What model did you find?
