Hi all,

My name is Rafael. I am a professional BJD customizer. Now I switched to Dollfie dream style. Here is the head of SQ Lab Haruka. The head is modded, the face up is done by me. I also made the eyes and painted them. The wig is not done yet, it was colored but I still have to color and straighten it. As for the color of the head matches good with white Dollfie dream body. It is not perfect match because the head is made from resin. I might be able to sell this head with eyes, as I have the exact same that I am planning to leave to myself. If you are interested please let me know

 

 

 

I will update this topic in the future as I am planning to develop this project further. I will post the new pictures soon.. Thank you very much for your time.

Are her eyes custom painted by you? Her overall look is very lovely and true to illustration though I think her eyes are slightly mispositioned (to me they look like they are aimed too far out)

But i think the same like plastic, her left eye-pupile must go a liiiiiitle bit more to the right i think... ^^

For this head, one day. If you mean faceup. Eyes it is different story

She is interesting, but yeah she seems a little lazy-eyed. But just a tiny tiny bit.

Thank you!!! Check out the original))) These are custom eyes. I made them by myself . You can always put the default eyes from Volks and she would look more straight. But these eyes are unique.

I love some of your works a lot. But knowing you because of hearing something about you? T_T i am not really good in knowing people because of there popularity ... Most of the people "i know" do i know because i meet them online and write mails each other or get some lovely help, but not because of "hearing how popular" someone is >//////< ...

I don't post a lot as my English is not that good. My husband help me with the post sometimes. I think that people should be judged by their deeds. That's why I work hard to prove myself by my work not by my posts. I hope I have a good future here at Dollfie Dream as a BJD face up artist if I don't lose interest.

Maybe you misunderstood me, I mean it looks like her focus is diverging (the opposite of cross-eyed) because of the white showing by the bridge of her nose. I think the painting is really well done, but that the position of the eyes in the head is a little off, does that make more sense?

I don't think you should need to apologise because you aren't aware of someone's popularity - especially if it's on a different forum ^^; just because she is well known on DOA does not mean everyone here will know who she is.

First, I think people decide themselves what they apologize for. Secondly, Dollfie Dream is a doll, and if you don't know the world famous doll artists please raise your level up a bit and say thanks to artists who try to develop this line of dolls.

I don't think you should need to apologise because you aren't aware of someone's popularity - especially if it's on a different forum ^^; just because she is well known on DOA does not mean everyone here will know who she is.

DoA isn't the world. Yes there are a lot of people on there, but it's a pretty isolated community in some ways. And I'm not certain, but I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people on this board don't have access to DoA.

But my customers are from France, Poland, Russia, Belarus, China, Ukraine, Korea, Japan and it is THE world. they find me not only on DOA but everywhere.

 

So because you have customers in different countries and time zones that means you're "world famous" ? I have friends in different countries, does that make me the world's most popular person? Yeah I don't think so.

 

I don't think I'd want to bring myself "up to your level" - seems crowded filled with your big ego. Maybe if it deflates a bit you can come back down to reality.

And this is why I don't like DoA. :/

Just one more question at the point. Anyone can say my work is bad? it is different but not bad. Please try to explain me why you crash people who come with new vision and new ideas for your dolls. Is that why you all here. As an artist I wanted to come and show my work find new friends and new experiences because I am interested. But... all you do is to force me get out and never come back. I guess that's why you never heard about me or other talented artists. You are unfriendly for new people. I really hope there are people who interested in developing these dolls and bringing them to a new level. And the most important thing is that Volks created these dolls for customizations and I feel sorry that you meet new customizers that way. I really worked hard and wanted to share what I came up with and I hoped for the valuable thoughtful comments not for aggression.

I am talking about the customers and the countries they are from and frankly I just mentioned only few in the last three months. People play lottery in Russia to get the face up from me. And my ego is at the level of my works. Show me your ego and your works and I will treat you accordingly.

Seriously? Who are you again? I'm on DoA and have been since 2010 and I've never seen your work or heard of you.

 

We're a tight knit community here and we have all sorts of connections worldwide. A few of us know Volks employees. Some of us know Volks sculptors. Does that make us all world famous? Nope. It makes us devoted to our hobby and not arrogant jerks who are pushing their wares on others.

 

If you're looking to spread out and do more custom faceups for DD's, that's great. You do nice work and I like the style on the head you shared pics of. But to come here and basically tell people they should know you and your work because you're "worldwide" is just ridiculous.

 

Now there are some well known faceup artists that we all know here because they specialize in DD's. Hikaru is one, Anouc is another and so is Littlebearries. Do you know them? If not, why not? Are you not up to their level? See how that sounds?

 

And they don't go pushing their weight around because they are well known. They are all likable and easy to talk to. They don't barge onto a forum and push their work on people and talk down to them. A different approach is going to be needed if you plan on getting anywhere in the DD sector of the doll hobby. We aren't like most resin people where status and type of doll make you "important" or "famous". That is all total BS and why I can't stand DoA anymore. It's a haven for snobs and people who enjoy talking down to others so they feel better about themselves.

 

Sorry to go off like this but I can't deal with what I think is starting here.

What does this even mean? Why do you think this is a contest?

 

I think your ego is not at the level of your work - your faceup work is lovely but your ego is terrifying.
