I really appreciate your comments. The eyes I made is a problem as I understood but this was my first experience with eyes. I am not a machine but I will get better.

Just one more question at the point. Anyone can say my work is bad? it is different but not bad. Please try to explain me why you crash people who come with new vision and new ideas for your dolls. Is that why you all here. As an artist I wanted to come and show my work find new friends and new experiences because I am interested. But... all you do is to force me get out and never come back. I guess that's why you never heard about me or other talented artists. You are unfriendly for new people. I really hope there are people who interested in developing these dolls and bringing them to a new level. And the most important thing is that Volks created these dolls for customizations and I feel sorry that you meet new customizers that way. I really worked hard and wanted to share what I came up with and I hoped for the valuable thoughtful comments not for aggression.

YOU have now also told people that they are stupid and beneath you because they don't know you. This is NOT how to make friends. What this is, is the way to make enemies. First, I think people decide themselves what they apologize for. Secondly, Dollfie Dream is a doll, and if you don't know the world famous doll artists please raise your level up a bit and say thanks to artists who try to develop this line of dolls.

I don't have to be famous here because I am well known in the world . I just started here give me some time.

I know the Doa is not the world. But my customers are from France, Poland, Russia, Belarus, China, Ukraine, Korea, Japan and it is THE world. they find me not only on DOA but everywhere.

 

 

Seriously? Who are you again? I'm on DoA and have been since 2010 and I've never seen your work or heard of you.

 

We're a tight knit community here and we have all sorts of connections worldwide. A few of us know Volks employees. Some of us know Volks sculptors. Does that make us all world famous? Nope. It makes us devoted to our hobby and not arrogant jerks who are pushing their wares on others.

 

If you're looking to spread out and do more custom faceups for DD's, that's great. You do nice work and I like the style on the head you shared pics of. But to come here and basically tell people they should know you and your work because you're "worldwide" is just ridiculous.

 

Now there are some well known faceup artists that we all know here because they specialize in DD's. Hikaru is one, Anouc is another and so is Littlebearries. Do you know them? If not, why not? Are you not up to their level? See how that sounds?

 

And they don't go pushing their weight around because they are well known. They are all likable and easy to talk to. They don't barge onto a forum and push their work on people and talk down to them. A different approach is going to be needed if you plan on getting anywhere in the DD sector of the doll hobby. We aren't like most resin people where status and type of doll make you "important" or "famous". That is all total BS and why I can't stand DoA anymore. It's a haven for snobs and people who enjoy talking down to others so they feel better about themselves.

Unlike in mathematics, the value of art is not absolute and can not be calculated. There is no way to define where the best artists are. Maybe the best one is completely unknown right now.

Can I join you with being the small fish in a fish bowl? I'm starting to feel the same way.

 

I mean, we're all equals here, and no one is any better than anyone else, right? So why can't we just call a small truce, live and let die, and just get along?

 

And you should not speak to Billy in such a way, Rafael! Billy works very hard to take care of his Dollfie Dreams, and I happened to have painted and created two of them! Though they were once mine, he gave them personality and life. He made them what they are today... beautiful girls with wonderful personalities! He's created beautiful art with them through pictures and stories, and it makes me proud to see that. Art comes in many different forms, his is just different than yours.

Billy does beautiful work with his dolls, he takes lovely photos of them very often and he always takes care of them. Billy makes every single one of his dolls look gorgeous, and he has a lot of them. (That's talent to me. Lol. ) He creates art just like you do. Just because it isn't the same medium does not mean it isn't art.

 

No one insulted your art work, Rafael, they just gave constructive criticism and you took it as a personal attack... Then you retorted to being rude. Acting like you are better than everyone else isn't a good way to make new friends. You have given me, and maybe others, a bad first impression...

I don't think you have to be able to sequence or understand your own genome to use it. So not doing your own faceups does not mean you do not have the right to have anything to do with DDs.

Personally, I don't think this hobby is about whether or not you are creating art with your dolls (be it through faceup, creating stories, or taking beautiful photos). Yes, it's really fun to share your girls with others and let other people know about their personality, but (at least on these boards) we're just here because we love dollfies! I'm sure we all have different reasons for collecting, and in fact there are many threads on the different reasons we started, the reasons we love dolls, etc. Having an ego and saying that you are somehow better than another collector for any reason is really not in the spirit of the hobby at all.

The reason I play with these dolls is because I like anime and the style of the girls. I find them beautiful and fun. I also enjoy photograpy and the dolls give me a creative output for that. Having stories with them in there is fun and a good way to be artistic.

Please do open my eyes since they are sealed shut and can't see your true glory. I'm waiting to see WHY you are so much better than anyone else in this hobby. Do give me some ammo.

 

The only thing I count is my friends and my money. And my money won't ever go to windbags like yourself who see this hobby as a way to make money and that's all. Do you actually own any dolls? Or do you just do faceups for others? Is all your money tied up in paints and that's all?

Shame on us? Shame on you for telling people what they should and should not be posting or commenting about. Who are you again? Why do you think people should listen to you and do what you say? I have yet to meet anyone in this hobby that has the rude manners and terrible lack of ettiquette that you do.

Well, some DD owners prefer the looks of their Volks created DD's, and some prefer a more simple, anime look. It's all about preferences. Personally, I like what you did with the custom SQ labs head. But it's something I could never do, so I did not ask about how the look was achieved. I know my artistic limitations, I suppose.
