Juu-Yuki Faceup Corner 15: Rei Ayanami

I have another commission post today for you all. Everyone, say hi to DD Rei Ayanami from the anime Neon Genesis Evangelion. I am not sure if I’ve mentioned this before, but I am terrified of working with white skin dolls. They are so white… and…. and… DIRT MAGNET? What if I leave a finger print on their forehead? I will never be able to get it off…EVER! Maybe I am scaring myself and they don’t get dirty as easily as I think but it still scares me to even touch them. I wore gloves 95% of the time while handling her.

 

Rei’s owner gave me a lot of freedom to do whatever I want, with the exception of keep her eyebrows that blueish colour. I actually don’t have that colour in acrylics so I used pencil crayons instead. I gave her some nice pink cheeks, orange made her look really sickly. Speaking of sickly… I don’t have a white skin body. I hope that doesn’t make her look even more sick…. and pale.

 

Repaint included:

- Head cleaning and faceup removal

- Custom design and painting

- 7 coats of sealant

- Pink Blush

- Glossed lips

She doesn't look sickly at all instead it just looks like she's a pop star the used a lighter foundation when on a normal skin body. But I really like how the photos turned out the body looks like it was white skin. She has cool and calming vibe about her like she suppose to be mysterious. I really like the vibe of the faceup although, the title was very misleading (thought it was another Lily repaint) but do indeed enjoy surprises.

They are new Twin-Snow eyes. The last time I checked the website said "printing" so they should be in stock soon.

Yep, they are Twin-Snow eyes. They are in stock now so you should be able to get it.

Normally, I'm not a fan of repainting limited girls. I feel most of them look great as is from Volks. But on this V2 Rei, I've never liked the default look of her from Volks. She just wasn't Rei to me. The V1 Rei, like the one I have, is way closer to the anime style than this version was stock.

 

But seeing this remakeup of her was amazing. She looks so very nice now! She has the Rei feel, especially with those peircing eyes.... those are also amazing and I'd love to have something similar. I'll have to stalk Twin Snow for these.
