Has anybody ever gotten DD sized furniture from here?

http://www.dollfurniture.com/baby-doll-furniture/doll-beds/badgerbasketpinkginghamprincessdollbunkbedwitharmoire.cfm

They said the bed can fit a 22 inch doll. They also have this:

And a stove:

My kid's been wanting a 'bed' for her stuffed animals and dolls and I came across this site and thought the bed might fit my gals I can maybe borrow it from her occasionally I might persuade a friend to possibly get me one and send it to me since they don't ship to Canada.

Looks interesting. Might have to see if that works well with DDs some day. If anyone tries it, please let us know how it works.

I have no experience with buying from them, but I have to say Katnaper that I like your idea of being a wonderful mom and buying your child furniture that you can "borrow"

I do this with dolls for my daughter sometimes heh

because they're an 'upscale kids' toy company, American Girl products can be a little overpriced, but i've found that many of them are compatible with either my MDD, DD, or both. (tip: sometimes you can find old American Girl stuff discounted on Ebay, or find custom made stuff "for American Girl" on Ebay/Etsy that might work)

i made a post about the American Girl bed i own a while ago, you can find it complete with pictures right here:

viewtopic.php?f=8&t=4060&start=10#p66364

since then i've also bought an AG wheelchair (only fits my MDDs, no pics yet sorry) and also an umbrella/parasol which while not technically furniture, i will share anyway. here it is being held by my friend's MDD in the park...it may be a little oversize for MDD but probably perfect for 50 or 60cm height doll:

on another note, i'm currently looking for any kind of beach or deck chair or "summer furniture" for my dolls (anywhere between 40-60cm height). if anyone has any suggestions about where to look and what to try, it'll be much appreciated.

Not sure how much this'll help people, but it's helping me so far.

I played around with my DDYIII for a little bit on some boxes. The results were that a seat height of 6 inches put her feet flat on the ground and her knees up too high. 6 inch was too short for my girl. A seat height of 7 inches had my girl more comfy, but her bare feet hung off the ground about 1/2-3/4 of an inch. 6 5/8 (just a touch taller than 6.5) inches seemed to be the magic number for her bare feet and for a pair of converse I got from Alice's Collections.

Now, in a 4cm heel like these shoes from coolcat she was much more comfortable at 7 3/8" seat height. However, as a girl who loves 3 inch pumps and 6inch platform heels, I can testify that it is normal for a girl in heels to have her knees popped up on couches and chairs which were made for bare feet.

Volks is very nice about putting measurements for their chairs on their website. They also post pictures of the different types of dolls seated at the chair for size reference. fu-shibata-chair-no-02-wooden-chair-b-5.jpg

http://www.volksusa.com/acfunsc02.html

Height: 15 inch

Floor to Seat: 6.5 inch

Seat Back: 9 inch

Width: 9.25 inch

Seat Width: 5.5 inch

Seat Depth: 5 inch

This red couch also has some measurements and even a DD on it for size (note she's wearing heels):

fu-shibata-chair-no-04-loveseat-red-2.jpg

http://www.volksusa.com/acfunsc04.html

Height: 12"

Floor to Seat: 6.5"

Seat Back: 5.5" (at highest point)

Width: 19"

Seat Width: 11.5"

Seat Depth: 6"

That way you are able to compare with other table and chairs sets. Again, for example:http://www.mytwinn.com/Furniture_5/Doll-Furniture_2/Dolls-Classic-Table-and-Chairs

Table is 11.5" H x 17" W x 11.25" D

Chairs are 15" H x 6" D

That particular table claims to fit 23" dolls which are about 58.5cm. The measurements seem to fit that.

Another example is this webpage: http://www.sew-dolling.com/furniture_boutique.htm. The sell tables, chairs, washers, driers, sinks, stoves etc. Crazy cool right?

tablechromanian2_small.jpg

If you scroll down to the Round Romanian Wood Doll Table and Chair Set you'll find it is: "Table measures 9.5 wide x 10.5 high, Chair seat 6" high and 16" from floor to top of chair back".

It seems like in general the American Girl Doll sized stuff is just a touch taller in the back and a bit shorter on the seat. However, this isn't always true.

tablekitchen.jpg

The Wooden Doll Table and Chair Set on the same page measures: "Table measures 19 long x 12 wide x 12 high, Chair Seat 6 1/2" high, 7" wide and 6" deep". The height of the seat on this one is better.

formaltablech1.jpg

Formal Dining Room Table & 2 Chairs: "Measures:14" Long (Leaves up) x 8" Wide x 9" Tall Chairs, Total Height:13"H, Floor to Seat:6.5"H"

il_570xN.483727771_j5cl.jpg

It also looks like some people on etsy might custom make furniture for you. There is a guy called TexasWoodWorks who makes some cute AG doll furniature and has the custom option. I'm guessing that raising the height of a chair and table one inch probably is within the realm of possibility.

I think generally the AG stuff is better MDD sized then DD. But it really depends on the item. And most of those items list what size dolls they work with. DD's are about 24 inches tall.

True, though the sizes don't always tell the whole story. I believe American Girl/Our Generation/ are referenced as 18" dolls, but since they are big chubby things compared to DDs accessories may be sized differently.

I've only looked a little at the furniture for such dolls, but the impression I've gotten is some items where there isn't an obvious size aspect to it can work. What I mean is, a bed for an 18" doll isn't going to work as it's going to clearly be too small. OTOH something like a park bench can work because in the real world those can be taller or shorter etc.

Of the ones linked, this Our Generation bed:

https://www.target.com/p/our-generation-174-yellow-hearts-scroll-bed/-/A-15515902

It is going to be too obviously small for a bed, but used as a bench to sit on it might look fine.

OT from furniture, but since these type dolls have larger proportions for their height, the accessory sets often have props that are sized where they look good with DD. A couple of threads here showing the Our Generation Science Set, which I've been really tempted to get myself lately:

viewtopic.php?f=27&t=16467&p=222341

viewtopic.php?f=27&t=16411&p=221677

I looked at the ones they had in a Target store. Some like the science and school sets have items that I think look quite nice, but some have things that look too toy-like in my view. There's also a "save $10 on $50" on toys at Target but it ends today.

Edit: Billy's Our Generation dollhouse pics show how MDDs fit on the furniture, and how DDs are mostly going to be too large:

Thanks for the reply! I was mostly looking at chairs and beds that could be suited as benches but I'm worried they might not be tall enough for DD legs, although the dolls I have coming are DDS so they do have a bit shorter legs. I also don't want something that looks too toyish so I guess I should look at them in person first.

They're likely going to be like low benches where the legs stick out instead of being upright.

If you haven't already noticed, DDS shins are only slightly shorter than the DD ones; most of the cut length is in the thighs which are much shorter. See Billy's second picture here:

viewtopic.php?f=21&t=2333

I suspect the reason Volks did that is so the tall boots that go nearly to the knee on DD still work on DDS, but that's just my speculation.

You'll certainly be able to judge size better in person, but the things that look ok in pictures I found generally looked ok at the store, so that gold framed bed likely does. The ones that look more toyish are ones like this washer and dryer:

https://www.target.com/p/our-generation-174-tumble-and-spin-laundry-accessory-set/-/A-50860094

It's not even the design in cases like this; it's the colors. I think you could paint that and make it look a lot better. What I was really thinking of is some things like the cars:

https://www.target.com/p/our-generation-off-roader-4x4-doll-vehicle-with-electronics/-/A-52446849

There's no hope for that hehe.

I decided to try out this couch - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MELT7NE/

And also this clothing display, which will likely only work for very short dresses - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004VU094W

They don't seem like a bad price, considering free shipping and no tax (for me, anyway).

The furniture from this brand seems less little kid toy looking from the pictures but I'm a worried about the couch being a bit short to use as a bench. I guess the legs look easy enough to replace with something slightly taller if I'm feeling up for a craft project.

I also found a cute chair on ebay but it's much more expensive and I didn't buy it. Might consider it later, dunno... https://www.ebay.com/itm/ELEGANT-VICTORIAN-UPHOLSTERED-SILK-WOOD-CHAIR-FITS-20-DOLL-KESTNER-JUMEAU-BRU/233039645468

Yeah it looks like it'd be easy to put different legs on the couch. The one review says it's good quality.

Lucky you not having to pay tax on Amazon; I do.

Your ebay link reminded me of something. Search ebay for "salesman sample furniture" and you'll find a lot of things that may be usable for dolls. They won't be typically listed as a scale but will usually have dimensions.
