My first custom eyes

I just made some custom eyes for my doll, using the blank eyes from Pupapa.

This is my first doll, so I was a bit nervous. However, luckily, it turned out fine.

 

I'm not too confident about my painting skills, so I drew them digitally in Photoshop after taking the approximate measurements, and then printed them on regular paper. I made them in three sizes in-case I wanted it taller or thinner, and also made them in purple and green. Then I cut them out, and stuck the pink ones inside the blank eyes, and this is the result:

You can see the bigger pre-made eye from CoolCat in the first image, which as much as I liked, the iris and pupil were just too big and dark for my taste, and I ended up making my own.

 

I am just not a fan of the really big iris on Dollfie Dreams, because they look bug-eyed.

I really wanted to be able to see the white of my doll's eyes from a distance, especially since I want it to be a young boy, and not a super feminine girl type.

 

You might also notice the outfit, well maybe it's only recognizable to some, but it's a cosplay/costume of Iceland from Hetalia that I have been working on. I will probably post about it later, when I have finished it.

They eyes you made look very nice!

 

I agree that big black pupils can make some dolls like "dead" - the ones you drew look much softer!

WOW! Those eyes do him justice! They're really nice!

Once I get a DD I'm definitely going to try making some custom eyes like this. Yours are great!
