My newest *surprise* daughter! ♥♥♥

Life is full of surprises. Some are good, some are bad, and some fall inbetween the two. On Saturday, I was pleasantly surprised by a very good friend of mine... mitsuki!

 

Friday night was pretty bad for me, actually things in general have been pretty bad for me... >__< So on Saturday morning I wasn't looking forward to getting up at all, to say the least...

 

Whenever I finally got up and went into my computer room, I saw a large box sitting on my chair. At first I thought it was a gift for my dad's birthday, but upon closer inspection I saw the return label was mitsuki's address.

 

I was still pretty groggy and really confused, but upon opening the box I literally squealed and then the tears began to fall...

Inside the box was a disassembled Mashiro Mito! A while back, mitsuki had put one up for sale... Mashiro was a girl that I always really loved, but didn't really think that I'd never get to own. I had just bought Manaka, and I was more than pleased with my 3 girls, but I was going to buy Mashiro from mitsuki on layaway. I thought I had everything under control... Then so many bad things happened with my family where my money had to go to things for the house, that I thought I'd never be able to begin paying for her. >__< I was at an all time low, and mitsuki couldn't have sent Mashiro to me at a better time... She really lifted my spirits and made me feel so much better. Thank you mitsuki!

I'm not the best at putting things together, but after much determination I finally got her body assembled! I was nervous the entire time, but I think I did a pretty good job. ^__^ Luckily I had some eyes for her, and they are absolutely perfect!

After some hunting, I found my Kareha's old wig... It's a pretty good fit for her, but I'm not completely sure if this will be her final look or not.

Along with Mashiro, mitsuki sent along a cauldron and some fake candy that she made. They look so realistic and are really well made... I love them so much, thank you mitsuki! My girls are ready for Halloween much sooner than I am now. Whenever I had them out on the table my mom actually thought they were real candies.

I've been very busy and the lighting in my room is already not very good, so I did not get a chance to take decent photos of my girls together... But I managed to get a solo shot and a new family portrait.

 

I have decided to name her Ioni (eye-oh-knee). My other girls have Japanese names, and normally I am one to stick to a trend... However, everything about Ioni is unique and special... So I thought that her name should be as well! I don't know if I have a favorite girl out of my little doll family, because I love them all so much... But Ioni has a very special place in my heart that none of the others have. She was once the daughter of mitsuki, who also has an untouchable place in my heart.

Aw, thanks!! That means a lot to me~ They really do... The end of 2012, and most of 2013 (lol) have not been that great for me... But my dolls, they help a lot more than I ever thought they would. Sometimes I feel kind of silly because they're just objects, but they just have a lot of personality and I guess "soul" to them... They're really good for comfort. >__<

 

Yes, I can't say it enough... mitsuki is literally the greatest. xD!! She really did know how to cheer me, every time I walk past my doll cabinet and look at Ioni I am always so shocked that she is actually here! Her candies are very excellent! I can't get over how real they look, haha.

These girls are something special and magical. I could be having the worst day ever and one look at my girls help make things a bit better.

 

I'm extremely happy for you that mitsuki sent you the gorgeous Ioni. She did the same for me with my Mashiro. I wasn't expecting her at all and bam the most wonderful thing ever arrived at my door. Mitsuki is a true DD guardian angel. :3

 

I'm so happy for you that you were able to add Ioni to your family. I think she is a perfect addition. I've always been bias with the Mashiro sculpt. I think she has the sweetest, warm smile and is such a beautiful girl to own.

Mashiro is one of the prettiest girls out there in my opinion so it's great that you now have one to help brighten your life up. Her smile is just so cute and warm, she has a great gift of making you smile when you look at her.

 

That new family picture is so nice! Ioni looks like she's happy and fits right in with her new sisters. And don't worry about your lighting, the pictures look good and they convey that your girls are all super glad they got a new sister to play with!

Yes~ This hobby has got me to talk to new and more people that I would not have had the opportunity to get to know. I'm grateful all of the time for the friends I have made from collecting dolls. ^__^ The people in the community are just as positive of an experience as the dolls are, and that always makes me happy. Thanks so much about how I style them~ *__*! It means a lot to me, it is always so hard for me to pick out wigs, hahaha. I stare at like 233426167423 sites and it takes a lot of narrowing it down to pick "the one." Your pictures are so nice!! I love them thank you for uploading them and letting me know!

Aw, I am sorry to hear that... I hope that your health problems do not bring you down too much. I have a lot of my own as well, and I really understand how hard it is. >__< The dolls really are magical in a way, that's a good way to describe it! It always surprises me how just looking at them, or picking out their outfit can make me feel better. Wow, that is so crazy that she did the same for you with a Mashiro!! mitsuki must be the secret guardian angel of Mashiro Mito. I always really love Mashiro because she is very versatile in my opinion... It feels like any eye color or wig style looks good on her always. Kind of reminds me of Yuki in that way, where she always looks pretty. xD Thank you about how I styled her~ I was surprised that the wig looked that nice on her, but I am still not 100% sure if that is "the one" for her character. That's one reason I really love this hobby. Every time I come home, no matter how good or how bad my day was, my girls ALWAYS make me smile. They're always there for me and always love me as much as I love them. They're excellent therapy.

You're welcome. Lighting can be important but you don't need big, expensive lights in order to get decent pics. I used to use nothing but cheap, clip on can lights for my lighting and they worked WAY better than just room lighting. You can probably find one or two of them for cheap on Amazon or at a local Walmart or similar store to help out your photos. Even if you don't have a high end camera, those lights will help out quite a lot. Just give it a try and see what happens, you never know!

But I think Ioni is just amazing! I think Mashiro is a gorgeous sculpt but she needs to be fitted with a certain feel or look to be her best and I think you nailed it (at least for me). I really love the style you gave her and your other girls.

Actually, ever since I saw your girls in your signature (when there were only two) I idolized your styles for them. I looked on your flickr for more of your photos too I actually hope to emulate it a bit for my own girl! I hope that's ok...

 

And that is so freakin awesome of Mitsuki to do that for you! And everything else I've heard that she has done for everyone in the community. It's great to know that there are wonderful people around

I agree that the girls really are theraputic. I actually have had to go to my psychotherapist a lot less since I got my first girl a while back. It slowly went from having to go 5 days a week, to 2 days a week, to once a week, to now once every 2-3 weeks. ^__^ I'm hoping one day that I will only have to go one time a month or less than that, maybe eventually I will get to that point!

 

I will have to look into those lights that you suggested. I will try to find them at Walmart. I really appreciate the advice. I am kind of paranoid about taking my girls outside, I would not want anything to happen to them... Like grass stain on their clothes or something. (I have always been overprotective about my posessions.) So I really needed a way to have non-expensive better lighting for indoors. Thanks so much! :'D

Any lighting can make a difference in photos. As long as you can give the subject good, even light, the camera will work better for you no matter what kind it is.

 

As for taking your girls outside, I used to be SUPER protective of mine too. But it's not so bad for them if you make sure to be careful and bring along a small cleaning/care kit with you. Just basic things like a towel, magic eraser, hair brush and a doll stand are really all you need. And it's been said many times before but your DD isn't truly yours until you either stain her or get her dirty somehow.

I think I might be taking your advice soon and going outside for pictures... The weather is a lot nicer. Normally it's so hot here, but now it's cooling off. I just have to think of a good location to take the pictures at. I still need to take some time and go to Walmart and look for the lights you suggested. ^__^"
