Photos of blank DD heads for face-up mock-up? Useful?

Has anyone found a good source of blank DD head photos that can be used for face-up mock-ups? VOLKS' web-shop photos are usually taken slightly from the side rather than from the front so I don't think those photos would be any useful.

 

A q for those of you doning face-ups: do you use photos for mock-ups and/or do you think photos could be useful for mock-ups?

 

Sister Kyoya's attempt at a 360-degree 07-head photo looked really good but I have no doubt it would be rather time consuming to photograph all VOLKS heads.

Sometimes I take a picture of the head I'm working on while it's blank and use that for a mock-up. But the pics don't always turn out nicely, and sometimes I want to do a mock-up before I have the head. I've used the Volk's pictures too, but they are small and not that ideal. I really prefer if the blank head has eyes in it too, otherwise it's hard to tell how successful the mock-up is.

Yeah, I forgot to mention but I find doing a Photoshop mock-up really helps me decide on the faceup style and details, and I can use it to double check my work during the process. If the head photo doesn't have eyes, you can also paste some in, too.

 

I dug through my reference folder for head shots - not all of these are mine, some are from Y! auctions and some from this forum, so apologies for not being able to properly credit the photographer.

Thank you! Didn't even think about all the character heads! Only thought about the blank DDH-n heads so the this is even better.

Photos would be helpful, but alot of times i dont used a guide unless im doing alot of work. But in the long run I feel that all I need is a front shot and a L & R shot.

It's not a bad strategy, especially if you plan on modding! I've used stock images from the Volks Dollfie Dream site, just to get a feel of what the finished product will look like. But usually, for a faceup, I think that the water-soluble Volks make-pen is good enough to draw a guideline. The lines can be erased very easily, so no need to worry!
