Freyacchi Posted May 27, 2014 (edited) I was just wondering. is there any way to get scratches out of a scratched acrylic? I bought a pair of Cheryl DD eyes which are very scratched and it goes over the lens as well..I'm so gutted I can't tell you as I love the eyes so much and was looking for them for ages. Or is there a way to extract the actual paper design and have it redone in new acrylic? THE PICTURE OF THE DAMAGE: http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z13/Freya21_21/Mobile%20Uploads/20140527_124046_zpse58dcf66.jpg SOLUTION: well, lets just say i took it into my own hands and i tried the nail filer trick. I got a 7 sided nail filer with 4 filing, 2 buffing and 1 shining things on it. it was just like this one : http://www.rebelnails.co.uk/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/7/_/7_way_buffer.jpg I had to do it 3 times because it slipped (not the best solution but it worked) and scratched the lens argh XD I started of with rougher sanding , then carried on to a gentler light finish so it was smooth with no visible scratching. then i just used a little bit of water to wash it and i used a little bit of natural oil (I guess you can use something more professional ^^') and smoothed it onto surface with cotton pad. then i smoothed it, buffed it and shined it with the nail thing...Make sure you take your time and smooth in circular even motion with steady pressure rather than just rubbing it. The process looked quite scary as I had to buff the whole lens to make it even and i wasn't sure if it will work xD THE RESULT: (the eye looks shinier in real than on the picture) I would say, I had nothing to loose and now i can use the eyes yay! The scratch was very deep as you can see the final remain of it in the bottom right corner but its wearable. Im very pleased with the result and if i ever get a scratch again , I will use the nail filer definitely Thank you everyone for your kind comments Edited May 27, 2014 by Guest Too.. many.. cute.. dollfies.. shinegamix Posted May 27, 2014 wow that looks pretty deep. i had some scratched eyes that werent that bad but still pretty visible scratches and i used eternashine guitarscratchremover blue compound on it. evened it all out making my triumphant return
Freyacchi Posted May 27, 2014 What sucks is I bought them from a user on here and it wasn't mentioned I'm pretty upset by it. They obviously removed the glue by force not by using their brain. I may give that method a go Thank you for suggestion ♥ . Apparently light sanding and applying some metal polish may be an option. Too.. many.. cute.. dollfies.. CPR for my wallet please!! Error-Chan Posted May 27, 2014 I guess if you sand them to even the surface then use a electric hand too to buff them up you may be able to fix that. I have a pair of eyes that have one deep chunk out of them.. If I get the time to get the hand sander out it has a bunch of heads and one is lore of a biffing tool and I will give it a go. cant promise anything the box is berried infer all the rubbish I call collectable things at the end of the bed
Error-Chan Posted May 27, 2014 just had a look on Google and there is this. on this one the step 8 and 9 are for eyes. http://www.puchicollective.com/tutorials/blythetutorials/eye-chip-cleaning-and-restoration/ it may not help with the deeper ones but if you are able to get a duff eye and have a practice on it may be a good thing to try. Cauldroness Posted May 27, 2014 I highly recommend Novus Polish. It's fairly inexpensive and really can do wonders on restoring a high-gloss shine to plastics. Back when I collected Pullips, I found the Novus polish to produce a much better result than sanding did on eye chips, so it should be similar on DD eyes. Freyacchi Posted May 27, 2014 Argh too Late Cauldroness , I had to go with what i had at home and it worked thank you for posting here . I will definitely keep that polish in mind though for next time (hopefuly there is no next time .o. ) The scratches were VERY deep so it did require sanding unfortunately. OMG thank you Error-chan! I didn't think of using a nail filer. well, lets just say i took it into my own hands and i tried the nail filer trick.
