Holiday Events on the DD forum

One of my favorite holidays is coming up (Halloween!) followed by another (Christmas!!!) and I was wondering if we wanted to organize any special holiday events here on the forum?

 

A Halloween costume extravaganza?

A Christmas card exchange?

 

What do people think?

 

At the moment, I'm thinking of staying away from gift exchanges, so that no one is disappointed if their partner doesn't come through (or if they get something they don't really want)... but on the Dolly Daily board, they have a Christmas Card exchange, and that one usually works out really well, and everyone gets cards.

 

As for Halloween, I figured we could just have a Costume Party thread, where the girls can show up either in homemade fashions, or in pre-made outfits, and it can just be a big ol' party... we could even do a Halloween Card exchange.

 

Handmade or Store Bought cards would be fine... and depending on what people think, or how many people join, we can make it so the number of cards you'd have to send out is limited as well (to somewhere around 5, in case people don't want to/can't afford to send to the whole list... of course, if you WANT to send to the whole list, that's awesome too!!!).

 

Any ideas? Opinions? Etc?

Unluckily I'm not home during the Halloween period... I will be in the center of Italy for the biggest anime/comics/games event in the whole country! ><

We can also try to organize some photo contest... I love to see themed pictures (can I be a contest judge?**)!!!

I was just worried about gift swaps because it always seems like someone doesn't get something, or someone gets something that's a really cruddy gift, while other people get really awesome ones... and I didn't want folks to feel bad.

 

I was also worried about an actual costume contest, because a) who would be the judges and b) how do you keep people from whining about people playing favorites?

 

Of course, if people think we can handle these things fairly, then I'm all for them!

 

I just thought a card exchange was safer, LOL!!

 

Plus, with a card exchange, it doesn't matter if you're in town or not for the actual holiday... you can send the cards out in advance!!!

Oh, for sure!! I was planning on making little DD sized cards to put inside, XD

Teensy things make me happy~ I can imagine someone opening a person-sized card and having tons of Dollfie-sized ones fall out. Possibly with glitter. SO MUCH GLITTER!

I love me some Halloween! Last year I only had 3 girls when Halloween rolled around so dressing them up was easy. This year will prove more difficult.... ha ha!

 

I think a Halloween Costume thread would be neat to do. I'm down for that!

 

As for cards, I'm good for that too. I don't know how good I would be at making DD sized cards but I can always try. Plus, Manami would want to send out her pic that Averis drew to everyone anyways.... silly girl. She's been autographing them here and giving them to the cats and her sisters.

I still have those cards you sent Mitsuki! It was the first time I had ever seen DD sized cards and I was amazed at how nicely you made them. My girls loved them!

 

I can't wait to figure something out for this year. I want to send cards out to all my friends!

 

I also can't wait to see the Halloween costume thread. Last year my girls went to a Halloween Doll Meet up in Raleigh NC. Here they are all dressed up! Sorry for the crappy pic, I didnt have a good camera then.

 

 

Manami was dressed as Ryomou in her Gothic Maid set, Rei was a Chinese girl in her short cheongsam and Yoko was a gangster. I even got them all little candy heads and put small candy bars inside.
