Choosing DD body and head for Miku

Hi,

 

I ordered the Ginger Tea snow Miku clothes last week and I'm now looking for the body, but since I'm new to DD I'm kinda lost I read the Dollfie Dream internal frame structure and Dimensions post and it seems there are 2 kinds of bodies the DDdyIII and DDIII, I think I should be getting the DDIII but I'm not really sure what the difference is... (waist and bust size?)

 

Also, Yui (from Cafe Yui) recommended me a DDH-06 head but there are quite a few heads available and even a few different DDH-06 heads!

Is the only difference the smile and color, or are there more differences?

 

Could somebody help me out? (before I get the wrong parts )

I think for Miku a DDIII would be better than a DDdy. But it is your doll, so you are welcome to make her look like you want. ^__^ For her head, I think that the 06 would be the best, based upon looking at her picture next to an 06.

 

The difference between DDdy and DDIII is that the DDdy body is curvy. The hips/thighs are wider, and the bust pieces are very large. The DDIII is slimmer and has a range of bust pieces from small to large. I think Miku would be best with an M bust.

 

You can buy the 06 head blank, and commission someone to paint it like Miku for you. Or you can paint her yourself! ^__^ The 06 head, as well as the different bodies, can come in different skin tones. I think Miku would look best in normal skin tone.

 

Hopefully this helps~ To make it simple, my personal suggestions would be:

DDIII body normal skin tone with 06 head.

Thanks you for clarifying the head and body differences! now to find a body and head... I'm in Europe so the Volks USA store is a no go and the international store says "Will Be Restocked"

 

And yes I'm thinking about painting her head myself, though I should practice for a while it seems

There's also a new head announced, the 08, that would be an option if you didn't want to track down an official Miku: https://twitter.com/hasedoto/status/483458383668715520/photo/1 It's got a slightly-open-mouthed smile, which could work really well for a singing, perky Miku.

 

Downside is, when it comes out in the next couple months it's only going to be available in Akihabara; you'll want to keep an eye out in the Group Orders section for Sakura Sylph to start the Sylph no Sumika (SnS) thread, where he'll act as a proxy, if you want to go this route.

Did you consider buying the official Volks Miku DD that will be coming out in a few months? It was a preorder doll so you can't buy her new nowadays, but you can get one secondhand pretty readily once she comes out in the November-ish timeframe. She's on DD3.

Thanks! That one looks pretty cool as well not sure if I got the patience to wait till nov/dec. though but after a quick look it like it will fit Miku pretty well! Need to consider this...

Yes actually I did, there was one for sale for 77.000 yen last week, but the current ones on sale are well over 100.000 yen which is a bit overpriced (much) I think the same will happen with the 2nd hand dolls and same issue with the DDH-08 head.. not sure if I got the patience ^_^;
