The name Anya is a Slavic diminutive of the name "Anna," meaning "grace."

• During development, numerous designs for Anya were explored, ranging from beautiful to sickly appearances. One concept even depicted her with bags under her eyes due to lack of sleep. Tatsuya Endo also experimented with various head accessories before settling on elements that evolved into her final design.^[39]
• Anya was originally planned to be older and taller, with a more serious expression.^[40]
• Anya's horn-like accessories were designed to evoke the idea of "reception."
• According to Endo, there is no reason why Anya's hair is pink, saying he "didn't think about it at all."
• Anya's design combines elements of two characters from Tatsuya Endo's previous one-shots: Ashe from Rengoku no Ashe and Misha from Ishi ni Usubeni, Tetsu ni Hoshi.^[41]
• Anya's telepathy was a late change made by Endo while developing her character. He had always intended for Loid to adopt a child with some sort of superpower. He did not think much of the implications a mind-reader being in the story would have, but later realized that it had good comedic potential and created a new reader viewpoint.^[42]

• Anya's name was originally romanized as "Ania" by Endo, and thus was often written as such in the backgrounds of some of the earlier chapters. This change was later pointed out in Short Mission 11.
  • This carries over to the anime, as evident by the sign on her bedroom door.
• Anya's former code name "Test Subject '007'" is a reference to the fictional character James Bond and his code number 007.
  • Also, Anya's name is most likely a reference to Major Anya Amasova, a Soviet intelligence operative from the 10th James Bond film, The Spy Who Loved Me.
• Anya's chair, featured on the cover of the second volume, is a Marshmallow sofa designed by Irving Harper of George Nelson Associates.^[43]
  • In the initial rough drafts for the volume covers, the chair had a black and white palette. Additionally, Anya was dressed in her casual wear instead of her Eden Academy uniform.^[44]

  • Anya's toy robot that appears in Short Mission 1 is a toy Loid bought along with some picture books and other toys when setting up her new room at their current address. Anya does not like the toy robot much.
• Anya has a childish manner of speaking, frequently mispronouncing words. In Japanese, this is expressed through her using hiragana in speech instead of kanji.
  • As further proof of this, she refers to Loid and Yor as "chichi" and "haha" when addressing them, which is an incorrect use of the terms.
• When Loid first met Anya, he assumed that she was around four or five years old,^[45] which explains her further academic difficulty. In the author comment for Volume 13, Endo remarked that a child born when SPY x FAMILY began serialization would be around Anya's age five years later, implying that she is approximately five years old.
• Anya barely passed the written exam of Eden Academy's admissions process with a score of 31.^[46] She is bad at most of her subjects and resorts to using her power to get the answers most times. However, she has talent in Classical Language (equivalent to the Latin language in the real world) and scored a 41 on the test.^[47][48]
• As Loid stated, Anya is quite picky about her food.^[49] Some of the food she likes includes peanuts (her favorite),^[50] cake,^[51] and hamburg steak.^[17] Anya's disliked food is carrots.^[50]
• Anya is the first of her grade to receive a Tonitrus Bolt;^[52] she is also the first to be awarded a Stella Star.^[53] Anya is also the first person Henry has seen earn a Stella Star and Tonitrus Bolt in the same exam round.^[54]
• Anya likes the extra toys that come with some candy brands and attempts to use her telepathy to read the content of the box to obtain her desired toy.^[55]
• Currently, Damian Desmond is the only person to whom Anya has revealed her telepathic nature. However, he dismissed it as a joke, attributing it to her watching too many cartoons.
• In the original Japanese text, the thoughts of animals that Anya reads are generally written entirely in katakana and presented as short, fragmented phrases, distinguishing them from the normally written thoughts of humans. This distinction is not preserved in the English translation, where animals' thoughts are rendered as ordinary English text.
• Anya's English dub voice actress is Megan Shipman. However, due to taking maternity leave, Bryn Apprill temporarily replaced her for Season 2,^[56] starting with Episode 28 until Episode 29.

Anya Forger (アーニャ・フォージャー, Ānya Fōjā^?) is one of the primary characters of the SPY x FAMILY series. She is the adopted daughter of Loid and Yor Forger. She attends Eden Academy as a first-year student in Cecile Hall, Class 3.

Anya, formerly known as Test Subject "007" (被験体"007", Hikentai "007"^?), is also a telepath whose abilities were created in an experiment conducted by an unknown organization.

Anya is a small girl with fair skin, large emerald green eyes, and light pink, shoulder-length hair that curls inward. Her eyes are oval-shaped with prominent eyelashes, giving her an expressive appearance, while her fringe falls just above her eyes and a small tuft of hair protrudes from the crown of her head. When Loid first meets Anya, he estimates that she is no older than four or five years old.^[10] She is noticeably shorter than most of her classmates, and her small stature often becomes the target of teasing from Damian Desmond and his friends.

Anya's signature accessories are a pair of black, cone-shaped headpieces with yellow accents that give the impression of horns. She wears them almost constantly, including while sleeping. The only known exceptions are flashbacks to her early childhood, before she acquired them, and the end-of-class gala, where her hair is instead styled into small buns.^[11][12]

Anya's usual casual attire consists of a simple black dress with a white bow at the front, paired with folded white frilly socks and black flats. After enrolling at Eden Academy, she wears the standard school uniform with white knee-high socks and black Mary Jane shoes and carries a brown schoolbag adorned with one of the matching sheep-shaped keychains she bought for herself and Becky Blackbell during their first shopping trip together.^[13] During P.E. classes, Anya ties her hair back with a red headband and wears the school's gym uniform.^[14] For the end-of-class gala, she wears a dark-colored formal dress with matching shoes.^[12]

In memories of her early childhood, Anya is depicted with her hair tied into small double buns. During her time in the research facility, she wore clothing resembling a hospital or patient gown.

Anya is a young and highly impressionable child whose cheerful, energetic, and expressive nature allows her to approach the world with curiosity and enthusiasm. Despite the hardships she experienced before her adoption, Anya eagerly embraces the everyday joys of childhood and possesses an active imagination fueled by adventure stories and cartoons she enjoys. Like many children her age, Anya is emotionally open, trusting, and still developing her understanding of the world, causing her to approach many situations with a simple and often literal perspective.

Anya's upbringing in a mysterious research facility and her repeated rejection by foster families leave her with a deep fear of abandonment. More than anything, she longs to belong to a loving family, and much of her behavior is shaped by the fear of being replaced or discarded. References to her biological mother remain especially painful for her and often reduce her to tears.
