Making Dolls - Danny Choo visits Obitsu doll factory

Recommended Posts

This is an interesting topic for some of us and apparently not everyone spotted this on Danny's site.

Basically, Obitsu makes the dolls in similar ways as Volks and has some very nice designs, like 48cm Misuzu.

They're made of vinyl as well and have internal armature from ABS.

So here is the link for future reference

Danny has also a movie from there, but only a part of it is about dolls.

But I think, that for example artificial food from silicone is interesting as well

I loved watching this.

Obitsu bodies are pretty damned awesome. If you're looking for pose-ability Obitsu is the way to go!

That was a really cool show! Sure it's Obitsu rather than Volks, but I bet some of the manufacturing for DDs is similar. (And actually, it makes me wish there were more Obitsu/Azone open-eyed anime heads.) I hadn't expected them to use stencils for face painting, but it certainly does make sense.

In this household, sanity is considered a tresspasser.

Stencils are the only way to make big series of the same faceups (The same goes for Barbie and any other vinyl doll). One simply cannot make hundreds or thousands identical faceups without them.

There are some nice anime heads for Obitsu bodies.

Parabox makes Ai-chan and Sleeping Princess heads for Obitsu.

Obitsu itself has two types for Obitsu 50 body - slightly "alien" 01 and very cute 02 / Misuzu.

And for bigger bodies - nice 08 designer head, and not that bad 60HD-Fxx heads.

Yes, this cheap head

after some modding / painting can look like this

And on Obitsu blog there's info about brand new head for a new 50 cm doll...
