FFXIV DDS Alphinaud & Alisaie Leveilleur

I wish I was able to buy the twins! I look forward to seeing everyone else's photos

Still twiddling my thumbs, hoping I'll get an email to pay the rest of Alphie lol.

How is everyone planning on dressing them? I'm probably just going to stick to a blue color scheme but otherwise go with anything. I definitely want to dress him similar to his Dawntrail fit at some point. I was also thinking.. I have the carbuncle print bandana from that time I went to Fanfest. It's been literally sitting in a cubby for years since then. It's rather large, so I think I'll use it to make him some pajamas!

Yeah I was considering maybe making his other official outfits, but I'm not sure if I hate myself that much lol. Definitely do share if you find someone willing to take on the challenge of their outfits.

I just hope I can bring myself to cut up the bandana lol. It'd be sooo cute, is what I need to keep telling myself

Planning on keep Alisaie in her full set for the time being. The main thing I’d want to change anyway would actually be her weapon- I’d love her to have a replica of one of my favourite rdm weapons but that’ll probably just stay as a pipe dream for the time being. 😄

I received an email today from Volks JP that my Alphinaud shipped!!! Now to wait for the shipping notice for Alisaie 😁

My Alphinaud is officially on his way from volks jp as well :] I might try my hand at making his Heavensward and Shadowbringers outfits at some point, but I'm planning on keeping him in his fullset for now. Here's hoping the pants are lined, I haven't bought an anti-stain suit yet....

I'm realizing now that I did in fact order from the USA site lol. So I'll be in for a longer wait most likely. 🙃

I'm super excited to see them start coming in for those who got it from the JP site. Please feed us poor souls who have to wait until November with lots of pictures!

A heads up to everyone US based that ordered VolksJP, my Alphinaud was shipped EMS as requested but my Alisaie (shipped today as well it seems) was shipped DHL. 

Got a tracking number for both of the twins today despite ordering them a few days apart. They're supposed to be here at the end of next week, but you never know with custom office hold ups. 

Really excited to see how they'll look now compared to the display models and pr shots!

got my tracking number for both of them today as well! i'm really excited for them to get here! but also devastated because they were shipped through DHL and that definitely means i'm going to have to pay import tax lmaoo. at least i'll have them by the end of the week hopefully!

Whelp, thought we'd be safe from the tariffs, but apparently not. DHL hit me up for $123 for Alisaie, still waiting on the text for Alphie, but a friend got it and his payment was $131, so heads up to everyone.

I wonder where Volks USA is left with the tariffs? They might have to eat the cost, and that’s a tough one to swallow on all those dolls.

My Alisaie is showing a hold on the shipment so I too am awaiting that message

If you bought from Volks USA there should be no tariff, as they already paid it when it arrived at their warehouse.  I expect their prices to go up for future orders though, which is tough considering their mark up vs JP already.  

Ah man, that really sucks. At least it's giving us rough estimates of what to expect with future orders

They sold the dolls a year ago when there were no tariffs, so they set pre-tariff prices. They won’t receive the dolls for another month or two and, unless I am missing something, they will have to pay a tariff that could mean they eat a loss on every doll.

I misread your previous comment.  Yeah, that's going to be quite the bite out of their profit.  I hope it doesn't effect future preorders.  

A bit unrelated, but related. Gamers Nexus did a few videos some time ago about how tariffs were affecting some companies importing into the US, and some of the actions they could do to mitigate the pressure to pass the final buck to the end consumer.

One thing to note is how the items are valued during import. Volks importing to volks might have its own benefits in this regard. And in what form do the items arrive (fullset dolls, or just parts kits to make fullsets, for me in my country thats for instance a 4,7% difference in import duties). Or did they manage to ship components like bodies before the tariffs hit.

Ultimately only the folks at volks usa knows did they do anything, or just outright ate the added cost. But like the video said regarding computer parts, once the inventory of stuff braught in was depleted prices would eventually go up.

I mean, Volks USA has been selling stuff at inflated prices (as if JPY 100 = USD 1 instead of the reality of USD 0.68) for the past few years, so I think they can afford to eat the tariffs, and I have very little sympathy for them if they end up having to.

So Alphinaud is in the US and on his way, he passed Customs Clearance.. haven't been hit with tariffs and was shipped via DHL
does this mean I'm safe or? ; w ;
My worry is that because I'm sending him to a PO BOX (home address he'd be stolen right off the door..)
my PO BOX won't pay tariffs to receive him and will send him back/decline him, and I haven't head anything from DHL abt paying a tariff OTL

@Hazukami you might be ok?  I would think they ask for the money during customs hold. But I can't say for sure really. I hoe he makes it safely.
