FFXIV DDS Alphinaud & Alisaie Leveilleur

The pamphlet said to use two magnets, which I did, and I taped them with two long pieces of the Volks tape and nope, still have the pushing away issue. The magnet (and peg) in the ear itself just isn't big enough to keep it solidly in place. It's a poor design choice. I'd worry about breaking the ear peg off if I glued it in. I keep moving hair around to try and hide the gap, honestly.

Honestly, that is an issue I've noticed even with many resin elf dolls. The wigs just dont properly sit with the unnatural ear shape. It sucks that since these are special dolls they didn't create the wigs with them in mind tho. I typically end up having to mod wigs for resin elves. So I'll likely do the same here. If I do, I'll post a tutorial.

But he needs to come home first 😭

It's comforting to know that others also have the same issue as me with these ears. I couldn't remember if Frieren also came with these ears or if they've been improved since then. I guess they're just going to stick with this system? They tried but it's still awkward with how easily these ears move out of their socket.

My feral girl is shipping, which is funny as ordered her last minute through Volks. Alphie I ordered like day one, maybe day two through SE as I didn't even think to order through VolksUSA at the time. So the split quest of which twin ships first is answered, and Alisaie will get here first. I should have ordered both through Volks I feel, but like legit didn't even think of that option with Alphie. One of my first two dolls in this hobby is a Dollfie Dream I named Dare, and I do not think I had even looked at VolkUSA between getting her 17 plus years ago and ordering Alisaie. I'm super excited for Alisaie, and hope her brother ships out sooner then later.

Glad you got a ship notice! Hopefully that means the rest of us will soon

I emailed Volks (even tho it's a bit late at this point) and they did clarify that BOTH twins were meant to ship late Sept. Despite the email only saying "Alisaie is scheduled to ship in late September." Because it specifically said her, my understanding was Alphie was ready soon after the time of the invoice. But that could've just been my autism? Either way, I figured I'd pass that along here just in case anyone else was wondering and confused like I was.

Edit to add: I don't know if they're going in order of down payment, or the completed invoice, but either way I did so the moment I could so hopefully that means I'm not too far down on the list. They said they ship out in the order they received the orders.

I received my shipping notice today!! For what it's worth, I made my final payment September 1st

 

I posted in the waiting room but may as well say so here, I did get a ship notice yesterday morning. He's scheduled for tuesday delivery!

My Alisaie shows as fulfilled on their website, but I didn't get an email, or at least not yet. 

Since mine shipped USPS they'll hand over to Canada Post... Meaning lol I'm gonna be waiting til the strike is over :c

My Alisaie came Friday, she's not going in her full set till her brother is home. She's chilling in her under shorts and a tee that reads "I'm not a f**king Barbie".

Has anyone else been on "Label Created" since the 25th?

Mine was stuck on that for a bit and then was stuck on "departed [CA post office]" for rest of the transit until suddenly changing to "loaded onto truck/out for delivery" this morning. It's possible they aren't scanning much right now.

It was similar for me, but she finally arrived. 

Very cute little guy! I'm not a big FFXIV person (I love FF games but don't have much time for an mmo) but luckily I had my friend who's practically on the game daily explain his character to me.

I'm glad I read these posts cause I would've kept the other two magnets stored away instead of using all 4 lol.

What I found is the ears stay fine as long as the wig doesn't press on them. I think the only way to ensure that it won't is use Volks Wig Stopper on the sides of her head above the ears.

I got it in the Artist Ally at an Acen (Anime Central) in my first or maybe 2nd year in the hobby. It's a black shirt with pink thread/writing and has never once stained any doll that has worn it in the almost 18 years I've been in this hobby. My first DD wore it for a long time before I gave her a Girl Genius t-shirt that I get from a tiny teddy bear. The Not Barbie shirt takes turns being worn by my sassy girls so seemed a good temp top for Alisaie as she's my feral child.

I take it back, her ears are a pain to keep on as soon as you try to do anything with her. 

My solution: I taped the magnets in place with Volks skin protect tape, and then packed her head with cotton to help keep the magnets in place. I put a bit of blue-tac on the ear posts to keep them from falling out easily.

Thanks for sharing, I also bought some elf ears but they refuse to stay on properly with putty 😕

I confess, I'm not really into FFXIV. But. I am into the semirealistic DD sculpts, so i bought them to customize and sold off the fullset items. I still need to wipe and redo the faceups, but it's been fun just redressing them too.

Oh wow! They look great styled like that! Definitely show off when you repaint them!
