la_ Posted September 20 (edited) Hi, everyone! I posted this in another thread earlier, but figured I should also make a top-level post for visibility. I recently made a doll website that offers a few tools that I hope people may find handy. It has doll size data and doll magazine pattern data* stored, and offers the following features: * Unfortunately, I was only able to list data from books I own so it's woefully incomplete. I'll keep adding to it as I accumulate more books though! I also only added dolls that were in the magazines or that I could remember off the top of my head, so the doll list will always need new additions. Please post anything you want added in this thread, or DM me here or on Discord (I'm Raff on the DD Discord). Doll Utilities Spoiler Doll Search: Look up a doll to see its measurements and commercially available patterns. Example: Dollfie Dream M Bust Page Doll Comparison: Enter as many dolls as you'd like to compare their measurements. Example in spoiler below, DD M Bust vs Smart Doll M Bust. Spoiler Find Similar: Search for a doll to find other dolls with similar measurements. Mainly meant to help people find potentially compatible clothing sizes if they have an uncommon doll size. Limitations: This tool only checks the height, bust, waist and hips and is biased towards matching larger dolls (Rationale: You can fit an MDD into MSD clothes, but MSDs may be too chunky for MDD-specific clothes.) Example in spoiler below, results for Dollfie Dream Pretty. Spoiler Pattern/Book Utilities: Spoiler Explore Books: View indexed book information. Click through to a book's page to see the available patterns. Example: Dollybird 22 page. Explore Outfits: View indexed outfit information. Click through to an outfit's page to see the available patterns. Example: Red Riding Hood/Dorothy outfit page. There is also an advanced search function to filter by doll/garment type. You can also use the "find similar" function to return patterns that may fit your doll.** Spoiler Spoiler Explore Patterns: Functionality is similar to the Explore Outfits page, but it displays the individual pieces instead of overall outfit/set. Links for each item will take you to the Outfit Detail page, as in the Red Riding Hood/Dorothy example above. ** I can't guarantee that patterns not intended for a specific doll will fit, so please proceed with caution/make a muslin to test and adjust before cutting your good fabric. Again, this tool only checks the height, bust, waist and hip measurements and is biased towards matching to larger dolls Short Term To Do List: Spoiler UI Improvements - Some of the elements displaying differently than they did on my machine, so I've got to make some adjustments. I also think the compare/find similar tables are kinda ugly so I want to refine them. (Low difficulty, low priority) Add Focus Images For Patterns - I was working on scanning in images of the individual garment pieces in each outfit collection, but my printer/scanner has given up on life after scanning hundreds of other images for the outfit pages. 😭 It's old enough to drive, so it's not entirely unexpected and I'm probably overdue to get a new one anyways, so it will get done after I buy a new machine. (Low difficulty, medium priority) Done, but there's some artefacting on the new images, so I'll be updating them with fixed images over the next little while. Allow users to rearrange the order of items in the compare/find similar tables - Self-explanatory, would just make it easier for people to compare things if they can place them side-by-side. This will almost certainly go hand-in-hand with the UI redesign of the tables because it'll be easier to just overhaul everything at once. (Medium difficulty (?), medium priority) Homepage overhaul - I'd like it to be a more compelling splash page. Right now it's just a text blurb. Will do this after I add pattern/garment images because I'd like to get a carousel running on it. Long-Term To Do List: Spoiler Accounts - Add user accounts so users can mark dolls & books as owned, and search within their own collections. Probably a few months off because I want to be sure before I start having to be responsible for user data lol. This is my first non-school-related fullstack project, and my first-ever JavaScript/Node/React project (we used Flask in school so I wanted to learn a more common stack) so please let me know if you notice any errors or have any suggestions! It may be slow to load initially because I'm on my hosting platform's hobby plan and they suspend the site when it isn't active to keep costs down, but it should perform at a decent speed once everything has loaded once. If you want a doll added to the database, please feel free to DM me the measurements (height, bust, waist and hip measurements) so I can add it. I was asked about this over Discord, so I'm also going to post it here for clarity: The patterns themselves are not and never will be posted on this website. I do not have those scanned and I will not distribute them, even if you DM me. I do not own the rights to them and I am not looking to get in trouble over this. This is strictly a convenience tool that I made because I wanted something like this (especially the "similar" functionality because I love DDPs but God knows they're kind of a pain to dress lol) and couldn't find anything like it already available.
