Reputable Etsy Pattern Sellers

In this day of AI fake patterns, I was wondering if anyone had go to sewing pattern shops that they could recommend?

I'm specifically looking for a 1/4 swimsuit pattern, but I figured that I might as well ask you guys for general shop information so the thread could be more useful to others

Requiem Art Designs has been in the doll patterning biz' for a long time, so if you're looking for something, that's a good place to start! Lomi's Playground on YouTube also publishes a bunch of free patterns and sewing guides on her website.

DollCandy's been an established pattern seller for a while and is unsurprisingly very much reputable! Sadly they don't have any swimsuit patterns available but I wish they did! T^T

+1 to Requiem Art Designs, I've been using their patterns to make clothes for my doll.

They have a bikini pattern here, and you might be able to make a one-piece work out of their super stretch/body suit pattern? Maybe?

Thank you! That bikini looks perfect for what I want to make!

Posting here to keep Etsy pattern sellers together in one thread. :)

Soromos Doll Supply makes a lot of patterns for 1/3, 1/4, and YoSD-sized dolls.  Be warned, however, that the fancier a pattern is, the more difficult.  You will DEFINITELY want to make them out of cotton before trying something too slick or stretchy.  And of course, Imomo 1/6 is skinnier than YoSD, so you may have trouble.

ModaVation Designs mostly focuses on 1/3 and 1/4, but has several others including Blythe.  Be careful--Minifee is much thinner than MSD/MDD.  Minifee-sized clothes will not fit those sizes well!

Is it? I’ve seen both 1/6 Imomos and YoSDs irl (but not at the same time) and Imomos are quite pudgy while YoSDs are surprisingly slim. I’ve always thought that 1/6 Imomos and TinyFoxes are thicker than YoSDs.

I've been told that Imomo 1/6 and Tinyfox share a size, and Tinyfox have a slimmer body than YoSDs.  You can put YoSD clothes on these dolls, but they will be baggy.  I'm working on making patterns for Tinyfox as soon as my girl arrives, but her hips are the size of Barbie's hips, and her shoulder and bust measurements match Barbie as well.  (Obviously they're not as thin as Barbie in the waist.)

And I can confirm that Tinyfox (and probably Imomo 1/6) are in-between Barbie and YoSD in size.  Leg length is the same as Barbie's.  Torso is about 1/2" thinner than YoSD except near the hip, which is the same size.

I'm working on patterns now, and should have some results ready soon.

No, this is not right. I suspect since you said you got Mousse that you're comparing the measurements to her body, but she was a collaboration with Dolleydoll and comes on the Loofah body. To date, she's the only one on that body. All normal TinyFoxes are released on the Angel body nowadays, which is similar to the 1/6 Imomo body, but still different.

All of these dolls are considered 1/6 scale, but they all have wildly different measurements, which is why clothing fits so differently between them. The TinyFox Angel body and 1/6 Imomo body are called 'fat 1/6' because they have bigger hips (16cm and 18cm respectively) and chubbier thighs (9.5cm and 8.5cm respectively) than normal at this scale. These two have pear-shaped bodies, unlike the YoSD which has an apple-shaped body. YoSD clothes are baggy on the former because YoSD has longer shoulders (6cm vs. TF's 5cm and IM's 5.5cm) and a thicker bust (13.5cm vs. TF's 10.6cm and IM's 11.5cm), but a lot of YoSD pants are too small for TF and IM because the hips are so much narrower (14.3cm).

Half a centimeter disparity is noticeable on 1/3 size dolls, so at 1/6 size even small discrepancies make a huge difference!

Barbie and other fashion dolls are known as 'small 1/6' and have completely different proportions to all of the dolls mentioned above. Because of her curvy body, the bust and hips might be a similar circumference, so 1/6 TF and IM might be able to fit into some dresses, but tops with sleeves and pants will be a no-go unless they're quite stretchy. Shoes are completely out of the question.

OK.  Forgot that about the body.

But I didn't say that Mousse could wear Barbie clothes in the first place--her limbs are too thick and she doesn't have much of a waist.  I only said that her limbs are the same length as Barbie's.

The Loofah body is definitely pear-shaped.  After further experimentation, I can definitely say that her hips are wider than a YoSD's, although her shoulders and bust are skinnier.

In other words, she is a completely different body size from other 1/6 dolls, and I've had to cobble together patterns from bits of everything.  But since I own patterns for both YoSD and Barbie, I was able to take measurements from different doll patterns to figure something out.

That’s ok, I figured that was the case. I wanted to point out that Mousse’s body is not typical for TF so the conclusions you arrived at comparing IM with YoSD were inaccurate in case other people come here looking for info and get the wrong idea. Same for Barbie, since people will see the comparison and assume they’re comparable when they’re not.

You're right.  I should have been more clear in my first post, and I wasn't.  I certainly don't want to confuse people!

(I swear I saw something akin to an add-on or extension, that filtered out AI sloppers and drop-shippers. But something like that would have made bigger news. So it might have been a new storefront that people where moving to. Should have stopped and properly read...😔)

Anyway, if you can stomach the smartdoll brand, there's a swimsuit pattern there. 1/3 sized though, so you'd have to resize and experiment - but it's free.
