Amapola Posted Friday at 12:13 PM I should like Azone dolls. They're lovely. Cute. Clothing is well made. And they now even have a lot more dolls with inset eyes. But for some reason, almost every Azone doll I own is more of a disappointment upon receiving. There is nothing wrong with them, but I just don't like them as much as I should. I do have some Azone dolls I love. I don't understand why I don't like most them. Perhaps it is the fashion? But the dolls I do like aren't dressed differently from the others in their line. I don't dislike most of them enough to sell them, but every time I see them and their boxes taking up space on the shelf, I get irritated. Perhaps I just need to change their clothes. What dolls are like this to you?
0bsequi0us Posted Friday at 01:46 PM (edited) For me it's Tinyfox, unfortunately. Specifically the MACOCO line, but just Tinyfox in general at this point. I was actually a fan of Dollzone, their resin sister company, before Tinyfox even existed! Dollzone has made some of my favorite dolls of all time. So I had a bias towards them. But I've realized over time that having a soft squishy vinyl shell is like... a really important part of collecting vinyl dolls to me. I guess it's just a tactile thing, but I love being able to squish my vinyl dolls even if just a little. I could tolerate Tinyfox bodies not being squishy when they were still double jointed, but when they switched to the angel body it really hit me how much I wish their bodies were squishy. Because at that point I might as well just get a resin doll, they have better mobility and they're WAY less likely to stain 🥲 So Peko is definitely a step in the right direction for me, but the issue with them now is just scarcity. I'm sure eventually they'll get wider releases though, so I'm definitely still willing to give them a chance. Edited Friday at 03:47 PM by 0bsequi0us Pixel art by @PlasticJester ! Neige Posted Friday at 02:31 PM I'd say the Chimichunga Chimikko DDs in particular. Don't get me wrong, they are friggin adorable. I loved their proportions and all, and I cannot wait to see Krile from XIV in Chimikko form. My only real issue with Chimikkos are the fact the outfit options are a bit limited (well look who is talking as someone who mostly owns DDB and DDSB 😅) since they are very different from YoSD. I like collecting clothes from other makers and lately have been enjoying sewing as of the late, but in the end idk if its just me but the outfit hunt seems too tough for Chimikko. Something I learned the hard way when I got a Model DELF where they can barely fit the mature MSD sized clothing x.x I learned having outfit sizing issues makes me less attached to a doll. In my experience Kumako size clothing actually fits surprisingly well! The arms on shirts can be a little long, but usually that lends sort of an adorable look so I don't mind it 1 Pixel art by @PlasticJester !

I really thought I’d like her from her promo pics, but as soon as I opened her box I felt like I’d made a huge mistake. I never understood what people meant about being unable to ‘bond’ with a doll until her. I feel a bit better about her now that I’ve changed her eyes, wig, and bust, but I’m still not completely sold on her. Her spaced out expression limits what I can do with her and her huge jawline is still really jarring to me, even now… On 5/15/2026 at 12:13 PM, Amapola said: I don't understand why I don't like most them. Perhaps it is the fashion? I get it. Azone has become (or maybe always was?) very perfunctory, and they don’t have a clear vision for how each product line should be. They re-use clothing for different series in the same scale and re-appropriate clothing from one scale to another, which makes everything in their catalogue look very same-y regardless of size. Their character dolls are amazingly accurate to the source material so they clearly have some very talented people working for them, but their designers really need to step up their game. You can get rid of most of the loose glitter with a lint roller, and some sets have comparatively less glitter than others so are easier to work with. If you want to pick some up while you’re home, they have an Amazon store you can order from, and in Canada Walmart used to stock them (idk if they still do).
