Getting my first MDD, Looking for shop recommendations!

I've been in and out of all manner of Dolls for around twenty years - Starting with the little Obitsu and Volks 1/6 (when Volks made those, haha), moving to resin, out and back into resin, and then Smart Dolls and I'm finally getting my first 'real' Volks doll - MDD Yuzu. My partner is getting Koume, and we were psyched to grab the last two in stock on Volks the other night.

 

I'm super excited to have a 1/4 doll again after realizing how much I like vinyl, and wanted to know if anyone knows anywhere in the US that does the cute core eyes. I've heard of Fel on Taobao, and have found a shop on Etsy in HongKong I'm thinking of trying but really wanted to know if anyone has anything we missed. Especially looking for the eyes with the hearts in them and cat type eyes.

We've got some Ali-express wigs and a variety of clothes on the way (including the Dollheart Outfits that we always say we're going to spoil our first dolls of a type with and have yet to do) but I'd love to see suggestions or your favorite fits/things you've gotten for your dolls.

Welcome! I get most of my doll stuff from either Etsy or Mandarake, though I'm not sure how helpful that will be, as my favorite MDD Etsy shops (PetiteBonita and poinsettia04) have quit Etsy/no longer ship to the US, respectively. 

Mandarake is still good, but know that whether you ship directly from it or use a proxy, it will be very expensive l... 🥲

Alice's Collection has good clothes too, including M + V Studio stuff, which is a favorite brand/maker of mine (they do DD/DDDY stuff too!) Very high quality. AC also does a fair amount of sales throughout the year, and iirc, has free shipping if you spend a certain amount. (Don't quote me on that, though)

I have less info on eyes, but I've gotten a couple cute pairs from Nina's Craftery Service (also on Etsy!)

Unfortunately Nina's Craftery shows that shipping would be over a thousand dollars so I don't think they're one the menu. I will take a look at Mandarake - should be cheap next to that. 😉 Your doll and that outfit are both so cute though!

This is mostly knowledge I know of because I have a billion MDD owner friendos (and I will eventually get one....Someday) alongside me being a Japanese resident who goes to the local BJD events fairly often and seeing majority of the creators, you may wanna poke around BOOTH, an online creator's marketplace. There are many of the folks who sell their wares at IDoll, Dolpa and whatnot sell their event leftovers on BOOTH, making it a pretty nice place to look around for any cute clothing for your MDD as well as accessories eyes and whatever else. If you are okay with getting a proxy plus shipping fees, then it might be worth a shot.

And then well, we got Taobao storefronts to look around at. I hope this helps!

 

Welcome. This has become Misaki's forever outfit. It's just too cute... the socks even have teeny spoons on them!

It came from Yahoo Auctions (Buyee). We're not yet sure of the maker because the label is kind of hard to read.

The shoes are from Volks but sadly they're no longer available. I think her eyes are part of a complete set of Dream Choice eyes we also found on Yahoo.

Top tip for accessories: the Our Generation/American Doll accessories are MDD sized including the cars and Hana is dreaming of a 🐴 of her own one day.
