Tierparkzone Posted June 18 In general, I'm always happy about comments, feedback, questions, and ideas in response to stuff that I post, so please, no one take this as discouragement to do so in the future. But this is something that has occasionally been happening to me effectively since I joined the forum and I've seen it happen to several other people here that like to make long posts with many images. It's not a major issue that anyone should loose sleep over, but it grinds my gears to no end whenever it happens, so I need to get this off my chest: Please everyone: When quoting a post that contains many photos, please remove the photos from the quote! People just saw them, there's no reason they have to scroll through them again. It breaks the flow of the thread and sometimes causes confusion (Am I inside the original post or the quote right now?). There is nothing wrong with quoting one or a handful of specific images if you're commenting specifically on those. Otherwise, best to quote just the text or maybe the first image of the post, if possible. There's no reason to quote 10 to 15 photos for a one line reply. To some degree, I guess this can be extended to long posts in general, even if they don't contain many images, but since they're less common here, that issue just won't come up as often. This is not meant to point fingers at anyone, I'm sure no one had ill intentions when quoting long posts. This is just a plea to be more responsible with the power that the quote function provides. 3 2 Photo Story - Photo Thread - make your own signature like this
Yumeiro Posted June 18 (edited) I agree wholeheartedly with this message! As much as I love images, this site is slow when it comes to pictures - they don't "load" until you scroll over to them, and can make the whole thread "jump" so it is very easy to lose your place, especially if you are viewing post by most recent rather than first. So I'd like to add for anyone that doesn't know - If you want to quote a whole post use @ and then their username instead (like @Yumeiro). Otherwise as etiquette, it is better to limit the quote to the actual thing/picture/section of the text you want to quote, it makes it so much easier for the reader to see what you are referring to as well. battrastard Posted June 18 If you highlight just one picture, or a line of text, a button pops up with "Quote Selection". Click it, and it'll appear in your replies. It's a learning curve I had to figure out, too. Rick 1 2 "Madness takes it's toll, Please have exact change!"

Alternatively, if you've already clicked the regular "Quote" button, the content of the quote can be edited by you just like the rest of your post. So you can go in there and delete what you think is not necessary. 1 1 Photo Story - Photo Thread - make your own signature like this

I often end up combining multiple posts because people aren't aware you can multi-quote. “Empty wallets, full hearts.” That’s probably an apt description for the effects of DD addiction.
