Silentsteel Posted June 25 Hi, nice to meet you all! I'm an older collector, and my pronouns are she/her. I've been slowly building up a collection of Smart Dolls, and only a year and half ago got my first Dollfie Dream - I adore her even if I'm not sure how to do her faceup. I currently live in California, and I own a total of five dolls (and twice that in freefloating heads). My first doll is named Molly, and she and her wife Tara run a modeling studio named 'Purple Smile' (I feel a little silly that I've made them a whole storyline but it's so fun to do). Making them clothes is still a rough process, but I've started making my girls crochet sweaters.
Giallo_Gatta Posted June 25 Welcome! Please don't feel silly about making up a backstory for your dolls; if I had to guess I'd say most people here probably do, and even more in the larger BJD/MJD scene! It's part of the fun, imo.
Silentsteel Posted June 27 Thank you for the welcome! And it's reassuring to hear that.
caiusdolls Posted June 27 Welcome! It’s lovely to hear about your dolls and their backstories! Don’t worry, we love making lore for them. One of mine is an anime character and the other is my oc that I made be his boyfriend. Cringe is dead lol. For faceups, there are lots of great resources out there for them and it’s often pretty easy to undo mistakes as long as it isn’t sealed yet. Can’t wait to see them in their cute sweaters! Silentsteel Posted July 9 Thank you very much! I hope to have a sweater finished soon, but things have been delayed by needing to pack to move.
thisjaelynn Posted July 13 Welcome! I love to hear doll backstories! I could probably write several short stories about my two 1/3 resin boys especially. I think one of the great things about this hobby is how BJDs and MJDs inspire creativity in so many different ways!
