froggubi Posted July 4 I'm going to Doll Point for the first time soon! It's out of my usual budget, but if I see a girl I really love I might get Pepita a sister... I dunno yet! I've always struggled with change, I remember freaking out when I got a second American Girl Doll as a kid in a bad way LOL! Anyways! People who have been to Doll Point before, what should I keep my eye out for? Also any other good spots in Akihabara to look for BJD accessories (especially props)? I can't remember if there's a Mandarake down there... (Also I'm trying to pick what outfit to have her wear! I'm between her D'Coord dress, and her maid dress! If you have opinions feel free to share)!

I'm sure your Pepita would be super happy to get a sister. 😝 3 hours ago, froggubi said: Anyways! People who have been to Doll Point before, what should I keep my eye out for? The store isn't super large, so as long as you're not in a hurry, you should be able to check everything out properly. If you're indeed considering getting a new doll, definitely pay the most attention to the doll faces and (mentally) take note of which ones you like best. (There's usually guide sheets that tell you info like the head and makeup number, etc. next to the dolls.) Since many dolls can look quite different in photographs, it's good to use the chance to look at them in person. 3 hours ago, froggubi said: (Also I'm trying to pick what outfit to have her wear! But taking photos in one outfit, redressing, then taking photos in the second outfit may be a bit tight in the 30 minutes you get at a photo booth. It's usually fun to pick an outfit that goes well with the photo booth you want to use. I don't know which booths are available right now, but since it's DDfes this weekend, one or two booths will be closed off as the event group photo stage anyway. 3 hours ago, froggubi said: Also any other good spots in Akihabara to look for BJD accessories (especially props)? This guide here should point you towards the main Doll shops in Akihabara: The Google Maps links all point towards the correct locations, but location descriptions and photos are outdated for Gee Store and From SEN. Mandarake has also recently moved it's doll section a few floors up - check their floor guide. For props, also keep an eye on the gacha machines (not necessarily just in Akihabara). Sometimes there's some fun stuff available that's roughly in scale. Photo Story - Photo Thread - make your own signature like this
ragnamuffin Posted July 4 There are a lot of dolls on display at Doll Point, but not many actually available for sale—mostly just the standard models, the D’Coords, and Dream Choice. If you’re lucky and they have an open slot, you can do Dream Choice on the spot, but usually you need a reservation (same day is often possible). They might have some limited character models for sale—they had Jeanne D’Arc, Ranka Lee and Chimikko Arle for the longest time—but idk who’s available nowadays, if at all. You should also check out Azone, Dolk and Dollyteria while you’re in Radio Kaikan. 2 Make your own signature like this
Tasuke Posted July 4 (edited) It would Be Nice to Get Hold of a Spare set of Ranka Wigs without having to pursue an Entire Fullset. That Said; if i was in a Position to visit Japan, i'd likely Make a special point of hitting up that Doll Point Location Specifically to Grab that New-Old-Stock Ranka for the Sake of those Wigs Alone... I know body wise I think I want a DD or DDDy, since Pepita is an MDD, and the juxtaposition would be cute imo! 5 hours ago, Tierparkzone said: It's usually fun to pick an outfit that goes well with the photo booth you want to use. I don't know which booths are available right now Oh I hadn't even thought of that! That just solidifies that I want her in her maid dress though! I don't know if it's open, but I've seen they have an Akihabara themed photo spot, and her maid dress just fits the vibe of the city perfectly! ... The photo shooting area is honestly so cool to me! Full little sets to take photos of her in... Ugh, it's just the dream! 5 hours ago, Tierparkzone said: 30 minutes you get at a photo booth. Also good to know there's a time limit, thank you! I hadn't seen that on the website, but it has been a bit since I actually read through it LOL! 6 hours ago, Tierparkzone said: The Google Maps links all point towards the correct locations, but location descriptions and photos are outdated for Gee Store and From SEN. I'm more excited than ever!! 🥺 4 hours ago, ragnamuffin said: mostly just the standard models, the D’Coords, and Dream Choice. I was planning to look at the D'Coords since they have some exclusive options but... Looking at Dream Choice I was way off about how it works. I thought it was way way more expensive than a regular doll, and you wouldn't be able to take her home same day... But that isn't the case! So shoot, I might do Dream Choice! It'll VERY much be a splurge, but it's always been a goal of mine so who knows! 5 hours ago, ragnamuffin said: You should also check out Azone, Dolk and Dollyteria while you’re in Radio Kaikan. GirlWiththeDragoonTattoo Posted July 4 Ooh definitely do Dream Choice if they have an open slot. When I went I was super lucky and was able to sit down immediately for it. They're very patient and I had a great time. That being said, they do have some really cute D'coords around. If I could've afforded it, I would've nabbed one as well. So definitely go with your heart.

Giallo_Gatta Posted July 6 Hmm, if you're open to suggestions, maybe Sunflower? Or some other botanical name? I think that'd go well with Pepita, since that's a type of seed. (Which you probably already knew but yk)
