somewheresunbear Posted August 21 Hello everyone! I will be attending Volks Dolpa in LA for the very first time! But I have some questions about general etiquette. -Is it acceptable to have modified dollfie dreams? I know I cannot enter them in the contests but I also don’t want to be getting side-eyed in general. My dolls are so modded that they don’t really look anything like the original head sculpt. -Even if it is acceptable in general, how about at the tea party? -Can I bring two dolls to the tea party? -Do most people dress in the theme at the tea party? I’m underprepared for an outfit for myself tbh. Anything else I should know?
forestydreams Posted August 21 Hello! Very happy to hear your going to Dolpa in La. It's quite a fun event, I'm sure you will enjoy yourself. I believe if the head sculpt is VOLKS then even if it's modded it should be alright for attendance and display. After all modded only means they adjusted certain parts of the original sculpt, It's not as if the head sculpt itself is not genuine VOLKS, It is. So it should be alright. . Volks rules specify that you must bring genuine Volks-made dolls rather than competitor brands or recasts, but minor individual customizations like faceups, eye-hole modifications, or sanding on genuine vinyl Volks head molds are accepted in the showroom and attendee gathering areas. - Tea Party - I believe you should be allowed more then one doll but you need to make sure they are not taking up too much space, someone else might need to answer this question. I would say out of consideration for everyone else maybe limit to two dolls? People sometimes like to dress up but it is not a requirement to dress up. You can dress in whatever you'd like. Thanks for responding! Yes, they are genuine volks dollfie dreams I got from yahoo japan auctions, but they have undergone sanding, putty, and custom make-up. The bodies haven’t undergone any changes. I have the paperwork for one bc the artist got her as a d’coord model, but I don’t think I have it for the other. Hopefully it’s alright! ragnamuffin Posted August 21 It should say Volks and the year the mold was created on the back of the head, so you can always show them that if they give you grief. 1 Make your own signature like this
Kemonomimicry Posted August 21 One point may be that aftermarket frame modifications possibly aren't allowed (Asachanchi's blog has multiple warnings on that for the Japanese Volks shows)..
