Cenobite Posted 4 hours ago Okay...that is clearly a Yes. I love this website already.
Cenobite Posted 4 hours ago The 5 dolls on the left are all mine. Starting from the right, they are: Lovely Bride, Spartanette, Ghostette (In the Shellette), Blind Jedi, and Elf Princess In Heavy Armor. The other 2 dolls in this picture are official dolls that Smartdoll brought to Maker Faire. Yes...they were nice enough to share their table space with me, once they saw how many dolls I'd brought.
Cenobite Posted 4 hours ago This is not simply 1 outfit. This is like 30 separate pieces of clothing. 3 different tops. 3 skirts of varying lengths. There's 6 or 7 pieces on each arm. I made this outfit as a magnet to draw little girls into the Smartdoll booth AND BY GUM, IT WORKED. You could see hearts and stars glittering in their eyes as they gasped. "Can I touch her? Is she for sale? How much does a doll cost?" MUAHAHA. SORRY, PARENTS.
Cenobite Posted 4 hours ago With less than 48 hours before heading out to the Faire, I snapped awake in bed. "The Spartan's armor...it's way too clean!" So I spent a couple of hours adding battle damage and scratches to the shield and the helmet. Yes, the helmet is 3D-printed...I had to go through several Etsy merchants before I finally received a product that fit to the dolls. (and even then, I had to put some foam padding inside the helmet to make the eye holes line up with the doll's eyes) The shield is not a print job...it's just a sushi plate. And the spear is a tomato planter. (rod that you put into the dirt next to a tomato plant so it has something to climb) The shin pieces are Danny's Millenium boots but with modifications. Cenobite Posted 3 hours ago The hardest thing about this outfit was finding a nice shiny plate curved EXACTLY like a Smartdoll's forehead to make the hacker's visor. And I found one in the most unexpected of places. Can you guess what it was, originally? Go on, try it...okay, I'll end the misery. Labubu. Did you know that Labubus and Smardolls have nearly the exact same head sizes? That silver plate came from a set of Labubu knight's armor. Yeah, I can't believe it either. All I had to do was glue a bit of elastic band to both ends and sand it down. Both guns came from a Japanese merchant (the Japanese version of Etsy) but I added the straps myself. Cenobite Posted 3 hours ago This doll came together by accident. I ordered a Chaos head, but when I saw that the eyes were closed, I had no idea what to do with it. The wig was sent to me by mistake (I had ordered a different one, the merchant sent me the correct wig later but did not want the first one back). I found a merchant that sold doll-sized lightsabers and I only ordered them because they were down to the last 5 or so...I had no idea if I'd ever use them. Then...I FOUND THESE ROBES. And the whole project came together just like that. I made the robot hand out of some spare bits of plastic...while it doesn't open or close, it is still a hook that matches the same grip size as the Smartdoll "gripper" fist, and it can also rotate like normal. Oh and before I forget: the lightsaber is a real flashlight, and the blade is colored glass...so yes, the lightsaber can be switched On.
Cenobite Posted 3 hours ago (edited) Yes, she is carrying 2 weapons...so what? Every good warrior knows the importance of having a backup weapon. And that's all I've got for today. (The story behind this Heavy Armor is way too long and painful to fit into 1 single post.) I hope that you have all enjoyed these pictures. I brought these girls to the Faire TO SHOW THEM TO DANNY and to put them proudly on the display table next to his other dolls, so these 5 are all the absolute best versions of each outfit that I could craft...I spent almost a whole month working on them. From the moment that Danny posted that he would be attending the Faire, right up to the proverbial last minute. Edited 3 hours ago by Cenobite typo
