archangeli Posted April 25, 2012 I hear lots of chatter about this, but I'm just wondering if anyone here as actually gone about and sanded down the nipples on an option bust piece? They look fine in the right outfit, or can be strategically hidden with outfit layers, or DD lingerie, but can they be sanded down effectively? This is what I'm trying to contend with right now - Makoto's got the Shapely-L bust, and with the placement of the seams on this bodysuit she looks like she's got 4 nipples, and they are lopsided!! Nightmare Tea Posted April 25, 2012 I know that Littlebearries did it with her Alna: http://www.dollfiedreams.com/gallery/image_page.php?album_id=28&image_id=230 Sanding them down seems to be safe, though other people might know more.
aquilla429 Posted April 25, 2012 I know exactly how you feel about them, but there is a way around it! I had an l bust girl before and although I don't have any Pictures of it right now to show you, I have done this myself. I'll try and find my old pictures later to share. What I did was took a rough grit sandpaper to the bust part, just on the pupil area to sand away the bulk of the shape. Once I had it sanded down enough that it didn't poke out of any top I put her in, I then finished it off with gradually finer grit papers, going finer and finer until the area was nice and smooth like the rest of the bust. For the technique, it's best to take things with a firm, controlled hand with a steady motion. Take it easy and have patience, rushing it may save you time in the short run, but could cost you later if you didn't do a good job. As long as you're careful, it would be pretty hard to mess this up. Have confidence! I personally didn't sand the whole things off, I thought it looked nice with a slight definition and it suited the character, but the bust parts are sturdy and I could have gone all the way down had I wanted too. Some important things to keep in mind though. *First off, it is obviously a permanent mod, if you did change your mind, or mess it up, then you can't put it back on. Although you can always buy a spare part if absolutely needed. *if you later on decided to blush, paint or coat the parts, the sanded area may take the colour and texture differently. *If the vinyl is discoloured for any reason, then sanding may reveal a different, lighter skin tone underneath. This may be an issue if using things like low cut tops or bikini's. I can't think of anything else to add right now, but if you have any questions, please feel free to ask! I'm more then happy to help ^-^ My new domain and blog is now based on tumblr, you can find me at http://www.aquilla429.com https://twitter.com/aquilla429
SisterKyoya Posted May 15, 2012 Yes it is possible and not hard at all to do, just follow the directions given by aquilla429. This was mandatory for Tamayuki until he can get a proper boys chest piece. Poor guy, refuses to go without his shirt and I don't blame him. ~Sister Kyoya Forum Blog: Badger Pocket Tales (Family story from the beginning) | { Old Family story reboot: Start Here! } Follow me on Twitter, Flickr & Instagram
archangeli Posted May 15, 2012 Awesome. Aquila, I didn't even see your reply until just now My internets must have eaten it! In the end I didn't have to sand down the bust for Makoto/ KOS-MOS, but it's good to know that it can be done safely. Thanks!! juu-yuki Posted May 15, 2012 I try to avoid sanding as much as possible =/ Airi has this..... "pupil" problem too with her DD3 body. I just put her in a bra most of the time and it works great. The only problem would be when she has to wear something that doesn't cover the bra strap. I am going to make some bando bras for her when I have time. Hopefully that solves the problem. http://juu-yuki.com Dolly Shop: http://www.lizanna.com
