Lulu Posted May 12, 2012 That's so cool! I'd seen DIY eye kits before and was wondering if you could do customs for DD eyes. Thanks for posting details of the process you went through. That will be useful to anyone else who wants to try. Also, just wanted to add: TONY TONY CHOPPER! That's the BEST t shirt for dolls ever now.
XOHimitsuOX Posted May 12, 2012 Every time i looked at Alicia with her new eyes, something just didn't look right. I decided to swap out Kaori's eyes for Alicia and place the new 22m eyes i made into Kaori. I might create another set of eyes that will suit her better. Also I bought some yukatas a while ago and felt she needed a change of clothes Testing New Eyes by XOHimitsuOX, on Flickr Testing New Eyes by XOHimitsuOX, on Flickr Yukata by XOHimitsuOX, on Flickr Yukata by XOHimitsuOX, on Flickr
chibinezumi Posted May 12, 2012 Wow wonderful job! ^_^ I learned a lot from this. I have a few of these bases and was planning on painting mine. Now I have good tips to follow!
XOHimitsuOX Posted May 13, 2012 Made two more eyes today, since this design suits Kaori. However i had to trim the eyes about 3mm at the back. As Kaori's head is quite small and the eyes kept on touching and moving while i was adjusting the eyes in the head. XOHimitsuOX Posted June 8, 2012 I used up the remaining D.Eye.Y's and made these for my unnamed girl. Which do you think suits her more? Also I added a extra procedure at making the eyes. Which was to use clear adhesive book cover on the printout before gluing the lenses. As I found out that the previous eyes i made that the printouts has blurred a bit over time. baldylox Posted June 8, 2012 Which "eyes" am I looking at again? Both new colors are cool but I much prefer the design and color of the first set in these newest pics. Her lower "eyes" are also looking quite nice! Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.
Kumi Posted June 8, 2012 I vote for first set, the upper one Also I added a extra procedure at making the eyes. Which was to use clear adhesive book cover on the printout before gluing the lenses. As I found out that the previous eyes i made that the printouts has blurred a bit over time. Is this "adhesive book cover" something sold in rolls, like clear adhesive foil? XOHimitsuOX Posted June 27, 2012 These look so pretty ^__^" XOHimitsuOX - have you thought about experimenting with metallic paper? http://www.kodak.com/global/en/professional/products/papers/enduraMetallic/main.jhtml?pq-path=13430 I tried inkjet metallic paper, however on my current printer (PIXMA MG3170) the ink doesn't seem to dry on that paper. My previous printer didn't have this problem, but the head on that printer got messed up. It would look nice using metallic paper, but i'm really fussy with the air bubbles when i glue the lenses. XOHimitsuOX Posted June 29, 2012 They're amazing! Congrats how do you design the pupils? PS? I used Inkscape to make a guide, then exported a PNG file of the guide at 1200dpi. Next opened the guide in Gimp 2.8 and started designing the eye in layers.
