Hello my friends~

 

as the title suggests, I've been thinking a lot lately about it. Since everybody here gets a lot together

it would also be nice to have the chance to chat closely and get to know each other better as Dollfie Dream owners.

 

I've always used IRC chats for years for many different reasons and I've got really close with people from figure collecting hobby in the past year just because of IRC.

 

Since the Dollfie Dream community is growing, it would be nice to know each other better.

 

I have created a channel on Rizons server with a #DollfieDream channel as a test for now, hoping first to see a response from the people here ^^ then

we can take off from that point !

 

since Averis is the site moderator, maybe he could help out too , we can also have moderators in the channel.

 

for first time users, we can create a guide on how to enter the channel, etc ^^

 

 

with that said, I'm personally excited with this idea but it's all up to you guys, since a channel can only be with DD users to chat with of course !

Dollfie Dream IRC Channel Guide:

 

✹ Programs to use:

 

Internet Applets : Mibbit https://cbe001.chat.mibbit.com/

 

PC users: mIRC http://www.mirc.com/ , SysReset mIRC http://www.sysreset.com/

 

Mac users: limechat http://limechat.net/mac/

 

 

 

✹ Address:

 

IRC Server: irc.rizon.net

Channel: #DollfieDream

 

 

 

 

 

 

Simple Tutorial:

-------------------------------

Mibbit

Mibbit webchat client is VERY simple, you actually only need a nickname and an address to log in, it's good if you want to use IRC at work/university for quick access.

 

Steps:

 

1-write your nickname next to Nick( duh XD )

2- next to Channel write #DollfieDream

3- click on the tiny word server and write irc.rizon.net

4- click on Connect and you'll be directed to the channel

( it's still recommend that you download an IRC client )

SysReset mIRC ( this tutorial is based on the old version cuz I haven’t upgraded mine ^^’ but it should work the same with the latest )

 

Step 1

-Go to Tools

- click Options

- you'll get this small window

- make sure you're on the Connect list ( as seen on the visual)

- you don't need to write you email or full name ( I usually put none)

- most importantly is your nickname

 

 

Step 2

- follow the numbers on the visual:

1- click on Server

2- click on Add

3- write the same description as seen on the visual then hit Add

 

 

Step 3

- follow the numbers on the visual:

1- click on options

2- click on Perfrom

3- make sure there is a tick

4- write /join #DollfieDream

5- click OK

 

 

 

Step 4

 

- follow the numbers on the visual:

1-Go back to Connect

2- click on Connect to server

and you're done ! this will automatically direct you to the channel

LimeChat tutorial

 

I'm using limechat for Mac and it's the easiest client ever XD ( in comparison to mIRC)

 

on your limechat tab, go to Server then click on Add Server

 

you'll get this window

 

then

as you see here, click on the +

 

 

add the channel as written then click ok

Once you're in the channel, please follow what's below:

 

 

✹ Registering your nickname:

 

Use this command in your IRC client window

 

/msg nickserv register PASSWORD EMAIL

 

Ex: /msg nickserv register hello2011 me@123.com

 

You’ll basically have to replace the word PASSWORD with a password of your choice and EMAIL with a valid email. This will send you an email with a command , you’ll have to copy and paste it in your IRC window.

 

This will register the nickname you’re using and it will prevent other people from using your nickname in any other channel in this server ( So please use your Dollfie Dreams forum nickname )

 

✹ Identifying your nickname:

 

Use this command in your IRC window

 

 

/msg nickserv identify PASSWORD

 

Replace the word PASSWORD with the password you registered your nickname with.

I like the idea. I hate to admit that as much as I've been involved with the Internet for many years now I've never done the IRC thing. I think it's because I'm naturally anti-social but I'm trying to break that habit.

 

I'm curious to see what others think as well? (some type of basic guide would be a good idea though).

when I switched to macbook pro few years ago , I started using limechat, it's pretty simple and efficient ^^.

I did it before seeing this comment and picked LimeChat all on my own.

 

It was very easy to get to the channel 0_0 The program asked me which server I wanted to connect to and what Channels I wanted and shabaaaam!

Hrmm!?!?! Ok i see now! I actually was really looking forward to a voice chat. Perhaps i should go and get a ventrilo channel, that may be kinda fun.
