Nier Automata x Dollfie Dream

I hope they will open the pre-order in the us store too. So happy to finally get 2B!

Although I love 2B and Nier Automata the most, her stain monster outfit and disintegrating boots make it relatively easy for me to say no, I'm struggling hard to convince myself not to get Kainé (ssoooooo pretty!! 😭), now if the 3rd mysterious DD is Zero from Drakengard 3... it's over, instabuy, take my money.

This announcement hit me hard! I’ve been on the lookout for a good deal on 2B (lol, yeah right…) but yay, thanks heaps Volks!  

Problem is that I like Kaine more here, what a stunning doll! These semi-realistic DDs are fantastic but I do have credit limits, haha.

I'm actually kind of hoping the third mysterious DD is Nier. But I don't know where anyone saw something about a 3rd or if it's already known to be female as well lol.

But yeah, I'm here hoping for Nier like as if I have the money for him lmao.

Where did this rumour about a third DD come from? I haven’t seen anything to corroborate the idea that there are more characters in the works. It is likely that 9S will be re-released on the 2.0 body, but so far neither Volks’ own tweets nor Volks News Vol. 113 say anything about other dolls in this series.

People are seeming to take the "Coming Soon" at the bottom of the page as the indicator for another doll. I've been going on the assumption that that's where they're going to put more pictures and pricing info from Volks News...of course if they wanted to put 9S 2.0 there, I'm certainly not stopping them... 🤣

Ahhh, I see. Like you said, I’m pretty sure they’re just going to put more info there. If there was going to be another doll this time, it would’ve been advertised in the latest issue of Volks News, which it wasn’t.

On that note, here are the details from Vol. 113:

- Both 2B and Kaine will go for ¥110,000 each.

- Preorder period is October 10 to November 29, with a shipping date of Winter 2027 (end of next year, not beginning).

- Both dolls are pre-order, so everyone who orders will get one.

- The details on 2B’s outfit have been adjusted, the size of her head has also been modified, and she comes with the sword pictured (idk the English name but presumably Virtuous Treaty (白の約定)).

- The specifications just say she comes with katana (no indication if plural or singular), but the flavour text on the images says it’s newly sculpted so she definitely includes the one pictured.

Also if you go in there tell the Volks staff to put the semi-white hand pegs back on their website. They've been out of stock forever!!!

Since this caused some confusion on Discord (yes, hello, I see you, you could have just asked me directly if you wanted to know), the line this refers to in Volks News is indeed:

新しいボディに合わせてヘッドのサイズも最適化よりスタイリッシュな印象に

Which translates to “The head size has been optimized to match the new body, creating a more stylish impression.” (This is a machine translation, but that was how I understood it when I first read it.)

On second reading, it quite literally says the head size also appears more stylish due to the optimizations. It doesn’t specify which optimizations exactly, but from context this likely refers to the changes to the new body; i.e., the head looks bigger due to the thinner neck.

As I wrote in my follow-up post, it’s unclear whether the size was actually changed or just appears different due to the changes to the new body.

Am I misremembering or did 2B have an issue with her blindfold staining her face? I would love to finally pick up one, but I'd like to display her with the blindfold on. Kaine is lovely, too, even as a standalone sculpt.

They're white-lined, but somehow(I honestly don't know how), my 9S got a stain on his cheek from wearing the blindfold for a day. My best guess is maybe the black fabric side rubbed his cheek or something while I was trying to get it on him. But it was right where the bottom sat on his cheek, so I've never been entirely sure.

One person's opinion but, $1k is insane. 2B cost $880.00 in 2018, and I get that's 8 years ago, but the yen has been down for so many years. I would think that the price could be somewhat comparable in 2026 with that offset, despite the tariffs.

Yeah, the Jp store price is about 700 after conversion (approx).  Add shipping and tarrif and it's still nowhere near a thousand dollars.  Never mind the fact that the USA price tag is before shipping and taxes.

I'm going to say some of the increase in price is raw material price increase across the board. It's getting insane. At my job a pump that cost $28k a few years back is now $50k. Its not sustainable at this pace.

I would have expected the recently released standard models to reflect increases in material costs if that was the case, but they really don't. I don't doubt material costs gone up across the board and across the globe (albeit at different rates), but I don't think that's the driving force of this large increase. 

Although it doesn't matter a whole lot to me. $880 and $1k were never going to be in my budget right now lol. 

The price jump to me was especially surprising with 2B since she doesn't appear to come with her Pod anymore...$880 was kind of high back then too, but at least it was because she came with an intricate accessory that also had a heavy metal display stand. $1000 feels like much for either of them with just the swords...I was waiting to see which store I'd order from and agree that even with tariffs and shipping, it won't come to that. So JP store it is for me...

I need to decide which way I want to order - Japan would likely be cheaper if the tariff mess doesn't get worse and if shipping doesn't climb to even more obscene rates over the next year+. That said it may not be as big of a difference as it may seem (assume doll $700 + 15% tariff + courier fee $17 + $100 shipping = $922). USA = $1000 + shipping (lets say a random $65 = $1065).

And that's assuming tariffs and shipping don't increase between now and shipping date. So is it worth the possibility of saving a bit of money, or is it safer to pay the more guaranteed amount (subject to shipping price increases of course).
 

DHL shipping rates are going up like 5.9% for 2027.
