I might be mistaken but I think there was a nun type outfit appear on Mandarake a few weeks ago. Towa looks divine regardless of which outfit it actually is and I do like your little devil. I hope she has a red trident to top the outfit off.

I can relate to the annoyance that headbands cause. Rini has the idolmaster dressy alice set which has huge bunny ears attached to the completely inadequate fabric covered fuse wire. This makes it rather top heavy so everytime she is moved they fall off. I 3D printed some headbands in PLA a while ago which are a nice snug fit. I just need to work out how to incorporate it with the ears.

I don't know too much about the outfit. It's from Yahoo Japan Auctions and wasn't that cheap, but it is very high quality. If you look closely you will see the teeny metallic rabbits sewn onto the apron.

The oversized bag is the Volks one released at Dolpa 49. I thought it would be more popular than it is.

Today I went through my old photos so I could compile a list of all my dolls' birthdays.

It turns out Towa's is birthday is the 30th of October. She arrived in 2020, which was of course a really terrible year except for Towa's arrival into my world. I guess I should count my blessings that having fled China because of Covid, I was ironically one of the very last people to catch it (in Summer 2022).

Here's my first ever photo of Towa. I think she's kind of wondering what kind of otaku hell she has entered into, but at the same time is probably dreaming of all the pretty outfits I will inevitably buy for her.

Our lockdown flat was a dump but it's a miracle Towa only sustained a small stain to her hand in all the time we lived there*.

Towa was generally my first choice of DD, although if Miku had been available at the time I probably would have gone for her. I nearly went for Yuriko Nanao instead of Towa, but I wasn't too keen on her outfit. Uzuki Shimamura v2 was also on my radar, although she was significantly more expensive than Towa. Of course Uzuki eventually became Towa's first sister, because she totally rocks and I think her default outfit is the most awesome default outfit Volks have ever created.

*We now live round the corner in a much larger apartment that sleeps 18 DD.

There's been a bit of dressing up lately.

My two DDdy's think this is the greatest outfit ever...

This is Kouenji Sayuka's Beat Angel Escalayer reverse transformation set. I think it was the second outfit we acquired from Mandarake and it wasn't too expensive at the time.

The shoes disintegrated years ago but fortunately they're just pretty standard school loafers. The chest fasteners often fall off too as they're fiddly to put on properly.

We do also have the Escalayer wig but Towa says she just cannot be bothered to put the ribbons in properly. Plus she absolutely loves her Towa Reboot wig*.

Weirdly Towa now appears to be able to sit down without her legs falling off.

* Of course Towa hasn't been rebooted like Rin but she adores this proper version of Towa's wig we found on YJA.

I thought I'd see what Rin looked like in the 7th Dragon III samurai outfit. She has the same colour eyes as Yaiba.

I really love this outfit. She looks pretty good in it but I think Kizuna AI makes the best Yaiba. When she's done being Ribbon Girl I'll put her back in this magnificent outfit.

I have many regrets in life but Uzuki being Towa's first sister was an awesome decision. Uzuki's smile brightens the darkest of days.

Some more stuff came from Mandarake today. Strangely the Shibuya branch appeared to have very few DD outfits in stock, but I was totally amazed to find the Idolmaster Kyun! outfit listed. I did not know this outfit existed. I think it's from 2014 and is called My Dear Vampire. It looks like it comes in two sizes. We have the small version. I don't know how rare it is but I've never seen or heard of it before.

The outfit does also come with gloves. Iori's not wearing them yet because they're a little delicate and also a possible stain hazard. It's not ideal weather here for wearing stain risk outfits.

The socks are a little long but otherwise it's a pretty decent fit on a DDP.

It came with two hair pieces and also two broaches (the other one with a black gemstone). Presumably they're for the two idols Volks intended the outfit for, but I'm not sure who they are.

It didn't come with the frilly bracelets real life Iori wears with this outfit. She also wears a black hairband which the set didn't contain.

Ironically this outfit appears to have cursed us and we now have October weather 🦇.

Kirika cosplaying as Sweets Paradise Miku.

Last week I found MDD Reimu was on sale in Mandarake in Shibuya. They had surprisingly few other DD outfits but this is the 2nd of 3 very rare outfits I put in our shopping basket.

This outfit was quite pricey, but not Ribbon Girl crazy prices.

It's probably one of Miku's least well known outfits. It looks pretty good although it's looks like a budget version of Uzuki Shimamura's Smile & Sweets outfit.

I was petrified that the shoes might have become, uh, petrified. However they appear to be made of solid pink vinyl, so hopefully will last a very long time. I did have a lot of trouble fitting them as the straps are really tight fitting and Kirika's feet aren't so good at staying on her legs.

All in all I think Miku Kirika is well pleased with this outfit. As she says, if she went to a convention dressed like this, there's a 99.8% probability that no other Miku would be dressed in this outfit.

Asuna's been on a bit of an adventure tonight. Really I need a casino backdrop but this old tree had to do instead.

In all honesty this outfit is a nightmare to photograph due to the vivid red jacket and the horrible moire pattern the pantyhose produces. But irl it's an epic outfit.

Strange but true: despite importing most of Japan, we appear not to have any black wigs, so Asuna kept her "Asuna" wig for this cosplay. She's not actually wearing the Asuna wig - that's too precious. This one is by Cotindoll and I think it's one of the best wigs we've ever purchased.

In these uncertain times... we bought some guns.

Happy 3rd birthday to my angel Towa 🥰. She was of course my first ever DD.

I got her this outfit for her birthday. It's a vintage Tenshi No Koromo (of course). Unfortunately it was ravaged by Japan's hostile-to-doll-clothing-climate but I appear to have made a really good effort in restoring it.

Towa herself looks in fantastic condition so she's going to celebrate her sweet 16th (again).

Another one of my real favourites... this time it's Snow Ciel.

She's a little busty for the jacket but she has the right type of ears for glasses to fit well. I should have pushed them onto her nose a bit more though.

I wish Ciel was more popular but I guess many future grails don't sell that well on initial release.

I've promised her I'll dress her up in one of her Ciel outfits but for now she's happy to explore our sizeable wardrobe.

Rin 02 in the late afternoon sun. I dressed her up first as I wanted better light for fitting her barretes.

How long before all the Rins disappear and she becomes a grail once more 😂.

The girls wore out my old SLR (or rather the lens). Our new Sony ZV-E10 arrived two days early.

It's mind bogglingly complex but we waded through all 11 pages of the first menu screen to fix up various settings and give the output a more cinematic look.

It's primarily a video camera but I'm really impressed by this low light photo of Rena Ryugu. Unlike my old Canon this photo required almost no post-production tinkering to get the colours and levels right. It was hand held too and taken with the cheap plastic lens it comes with. It's going to be awesome for video work.

Miku's here so Kirika Towa Alma has now retired from her role as pretend Miku.

Kirika Towa Alma was released in August 2015 and was quite common last year but now appears to be a grail.

I honour of Kirika's first birthday I've dressed her up as Kirika. It took a while, not least because I figured out that like Frieren, she also has two outfits. It's unseasonably warm here right now, so I dressed her as Summer Kirika.

The strap on one of her clogs has broken but that was not unexpected.

Figuring out how to put her long sleeve things on was puzzling, until I realised they had poppers.

I'm not familiar with the Shining Resonance game but apparently she puts this outfit on when she sings.

Overall the outfit is stunning, with beautiful material but the annoying fabric hooks are a shame. So far none of them has broken.

I haven't put her earings on her. It looks complex and I'm glad they made Frieren's earings part of her ears.
