most-Kasane-Teto-fan Posted Saturday at 08:02 AM Hope you guys are well! Apologies if this has been discussed before I haven't been able to find any information so just wanted to ask if there's any major or notable differences between the DDdy f3 body and the DDdy base body III? I had a look on volks JP and the bodies are separate listings and different prices (BB III being slightly cheaper). I was heavily considering getting a DDdy f3 new but I saw a listing for a base body III on Mandrake (pictured below) and it looks pretty good minus the chest part looking too wide compared to the lower body- which I assume it just isn't connected properly? If anyone has experience with either body or even both I'd appreciate any advice!
finnleo Posted Saturday at 09:32 AM The inner frames of the DD3 and F3 are very different, especially in the shoulder and hip joint areas. The main thing to consider is that the DD3 is officially discontinued, so certain inner frame spares are getting more annoying to find, or need third party alternatives if they break. That normal skin 26k yen body on manda isnt horrible I guess, the upper torso probably needs to be fully pushed down for the gap to close, but its only 6k yen cheaper than a brand new one from volks in semiwhite (Normal skin is sold out and discontinued), and they dont show the condition of the shoulders or hips which were a known problem on early DD3's (there are reinforcement bits for both versions of DD3 from coolcats but those add cost).
most-Kasane-Teto-fan Posted Saturday at 11:11 AM Ah I see, the frames being so different I will pass and just save up for a f3 then. The 10k yen saved seems appealing but as you said who knows what's going on with those joints, I usually had good experiences with Mandarake and their condition listing are more accurate than not but not really worth the risk here. finnleo Posted Saturday at 02:38 PM Mmm, I've had no problems with mandarake either, and i've spent quite a few yen there. Never had anything out of description, so always knew if something was going to be in rough shape in advance. They probably do check for cracks and report if they've found something -- Im just used to seeing the bigger azone dolls having pictures of cracked shoulders, and they also currently have a Miki Hoshii that has a totally broken shoulder and pics about it, and a Yuki Miku with cracked hips. But its just something to be aware of when going for a DD3, since it might not be a problem now, but it could be later so its worth to take into consideration.
most-Kasane-Teto-fan Posted 23 hours ago Yeah I'm still quite split on it, I have some Azone girls with split shoulders actually and had some trouble finding parts (being in Australia shipping is a gamble). I might keep an eye on her and think about it I spose.
ragnamuffin Posted 22 hours ago I don’t have a DDdy so take what I’m about to say with a grain of salt, but I got out one of my girls on the old DDIII frame yesterday and it’s such a downgrade from the f3 body. The joints were creaky and janky, and I was a bit nervous taking her apart since I’ve heard the skeleton can break just from taking pegs out of sockets. The f3 moves much more fluidly and doesn’t feel like the frame will break from disassembly, but even if it did, at least you can get replacement parts for it. Now that the bodies are all getting upgrades, it might be worth it to wait for the 2.0, which will presumably look better aesthetically and have a greater range of motion.
