SQLab head on Smart Doll Pear Body- Tips?

Hi!!

I have another project doll in mind.. For a doll body I've not owned before, and a resin head.. I'm looking to see if this hybrid is viable at all LOLOL, excuse if this sounds a little obvious to anyone who's owned a Smartdoll or SQLab head/body/what-have-you.

I'm not too crazy concerned about perfect color matching between the resin and vinyl, for the record. Though I'd like to know what would match best with SQLabs' ""normal"" tone.

Not sure if Classic and Pear have any differences for head fitting. Regardless, any pointers are appreciated! Thanks in advance~~

Pear heads do seem to be a bit bigger, so an SQLab head might look small on the body, comparatively. Hopefully someone here can indulge you with pictures.

Ahh I see! If it's too awkward, I'm definitely open to settle for DDDy. Hopefully someone can share a pic to show how well the scale plays! I'm open to a modest amount of small-ness, but it definitely depends. I know that Tsubaki (the sculpt I'm looking at) has a nice amount of width to it, so maybe it has a decent chance of looking normal? We shall see!

I have a Tsubaki head also, (Tana!) but in this pic, she's on a DDII body. (Old pic for reference). 

 

Maiko on the Left, Tana on the Right. 

A larger, voluminous wig might help out, if her head looks too small. 

 

 

As a personal preference only, I find the slightly smaller SQLabs heads fit better on the MDD bodies. But, that's just me. Your mileage may vary. 

 

 

While not a Pear body, I hope this will help you out, even a little bit, and good luck finding out!! (It's all about enjoying the Hobby, after all!)

Noted about the voluminous wigs! That certainly is helpful advice.

For what it's worth, I don't know about SQlab colors but the best match between Smartdoll and Dollfie Dream flesh/possibly Obitsu White(?) has been Smartdoll Milk vinyl. That color had been discontinued from before the pear girls were ever released, BUT apparently Danny Choo has stated some intention of bringing the Milk skintone or an updated version of it back for some releases including, possibly, the pear body. I'm not sure how widely available it would be if at all, but if a perfect match is something you desire and if SQlab resin matches with either of the vinyl colors mentioned above, it might be worth waiting to see what happens with the SMD Milk rereleases in case you can snag a pear one.

Here's the SQ-lab DD Normal head on Flesh Dollfie Dream, in natural light:


I am unsure of if the SQ-lab head is "DD normal". It's supposed to be, but I wonder if it is just Normal skin, and not DD Normal.
It might have yellowed/mellowed (I received it rather fast when I ordered it from Sadol, so it could have been made a long time ago/have been lying around?), but if it was newly made when I ordered it, it's since been kept in darkness, so I don't think it should have created such a huge difference this soon.
Otherwise it might help to visualize how it'll look as it yellows at least?

Ahh I see! I'm not as well versed on Smartdoll stuff as I am with DD. Sounds like waiting could be the move. At the same time, I quite like the appeal of cinnamon not staining as much, so maybe I could get away with it through the power of chalk pastels..

Milk is currently being revived as we speak. Danny said there would be Pear girls available in September.
