How do you verify a Dollfie Dream?

EDIT: I put this in the wrong section by total accident. I'm so so sorry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Reported the post 💔

Hello,

I'm new to Dollfies- I recently saw one locally for a good price, discounted to 250. She has clear blemishes and the seller had some ambiguity if she's broken in any places. (To me, her arm and leg looked very loose.) The doll is a Saber (Extra: Last Encore). However, this seems a bit too good to be true to me. Do you know how I can verify if the doll is legit? She still has her box and all of her pieces that I can see.

I don't really care too much if she's a little broken u_u but I also don't want to be scammed.

Thank you everyone.

From my memory, Saber Extra was released on the early edition of the DD3 body, which was exceptionally prone to joint cracking. Most Saber Extras have broken shoulders and many have broken hips nowadays.

If she has her box and all of her fullset pieces, I'd say she's probably legit. DDs don't suffer from quite the same counterfeiting issue that resin dolls do, and while Saber has been recasted, reports here on the forum state that she tends to look pretty obviously wrong/incorrect. I would ask the seller about her provenance, though, if you're worried. Did they buy directly from Volks or someone else? When? Do they have messages/emails corroborating their history? Etc.

Kiyomi DDS DDH-06 🧡 Miyuki DDS DDH-06 🧡 Emiko DDS Mariko Summer Festival 🧡 Kanade DDDy DDH-07 🧡 Honoka DD DDH-09 🧡 Priyanka DDS Anthy Himemiya 🧡 Megumi DDDy Sasara Kusugawa 🧡 Unnamed DD Sakura Miku

Any pronouns are fine

The recast Saber (the Altria or Fate/Stay Night version) used the Miku headsculpt.

It's very true that those early DDIII bodies are fragile and prone to breakage.  The seller is probably pricing the doll as if the body were junk, and needs to be replaced...  Although sk-coolcat.com sells some repair parts that may salvage it.

This makes a lot of sense to me. I always heard vinyl don't usually have recast- but I wasn't sure if it still rung true nowadays! The doll was absolutely legit and the seller was very nice and even included some volks extras. I'll keep it in mind for the future too :)!

I ended up picking her up! Thank you for helping!! She does have a loose torso, and broken feet- but most of the doll seems to have been replaced already at some point. A lot of parts are still in need of repair, but it turns out she just was very well loved by her last owner. I don't mind at all, since she's absolutely gorgeous!
