Not sure if this is the correct place to post this but I am very heartbroken by this news. The website was such an amazing resource and will be dearly missed. 

In the current day, it isn't super active as people prefer to use Facebook, Instagram, Discord and Reddit to discuss BJDs. 

I hope that the BJD online community will still flourish in the absence of DoA, and I hope that Doll Dreaming will continue existing as long as possible.

I saw the news this morning. I've already shared my thoughts over there, but I want to reiterate here that forums are a truly special place in ever-fractured hobby online spaces. Losing such a central, cornerstone location is a massive blow to the hobby, even if it's much quieter and less active than its height. I am going to miss it dearly.

My friend let me know just now about this. Truly sad news. While I haven't gone there in a while (cause I only collect DDs now, and of course I'm a grown adult with a job and all the stress of life that comes with it), I still have fond memories of DoA, and I considered it to be a really good place to find people buying or selling (the feedback threads were the best thing). It was also a safe place to start i think - get a look around, get news easily, get feedback from other members on what's what...

Anyway. Hopefully someone decides to make a DoA2, or they can migrate somewhere else.

According to the news thread, they are shutting down because the only person with admin powers has been out of touch for several years and they are unable to make more high-level moderation staff to handle the site's volume. The current highest-ranked person has indicated that if they can get in touch with the person who still holds admin and get access to the site's top-level password, they won't have to shut down.

Now we just have to see if that can be done. I'm not hopeful, but it's... possible?

There's also a lot of ongoing talks in the General Discussion thread about possible alternatives if the site does shut down, i.e. would a new forum be possible, do people move to social media, do they come here to our resin section as a stop gap, etc.

I saw a post in the goodbyes thread where someone said there’s an inactive flikr account connected to the site owner that may have an email we could contact them with, but I can’t find any flikr, so I’m not sure how useful that route is. The mods did say the site admin logged in sometime briefly within the last several years so presumably they should be contactable somehow, I’d hope.

I’d be so sad to see the site shut down.

I found out yesterday via tumblr. It's such a massive loss. It was so easy to crowdsource info there if you had a specific question. I was just starting to be more active there again ugh. I don't do the book of faces or the discords or reddit. Tumblr is decent for sharing, but not so much if you need info. And even tho most of my more recent sales happen through mercari, I still got a good amount on DoA. It's really too bad to see it go
