I’m glad that means they really are updating the boy body to 2.0.

I know it’s too much to hope for given past rereleases but I still hope they make a new outfit to release alongside him instead of just rereleasing the Senbonzakura one again. I had lost hope of seeing more Project Diva modules from Volks, but recently GSC has been making a whole bunch of nendoroids of them, which renewed my hope just a little.

 

He’s also getting some doll size Washin Palette glasses! I might get these, I prefer them to the Miku ones they released a while back.

Aw man! I'm gonna be honest, I really don't care about Kaito but I care a LOT about the prospect of a new boy body!

It seems like the boy bodies were pretty unpopular aesthetically, so I'll be interested to see how much they change. If it's cute enough I may have to pay the Kaito tax just to get my hands on one 😅

Well, that explains the influx of DDB bodies on Mandarake about two weeks ago.

Now to wait whether they do a DDSB 2.0 body, and especially whether they will do a DDP 2.0.

Same for me, if the upgarde is impressive and pretty enough I might consider giving my boy a new body.

Although it wouldn't be Kaito, because of him being flesh and I would need semi-white. Dream Choice won't be possible be for me financially for a good while, so I just put this as a possible long time goal, haha.

I missed out on his first release since -no money- so it's great that he's getting a rerelease. The 2.0 body is a bonus. Curious about what it looks like. I wonder if they'll ever release differing parts for the DDB like how the ladies get different bust parts as an example.

Ooh great news about a 2.0 boy body! The only thing to make it even better would be to let us buy them separately. We yearn for regularly sold boy bodies!

Does Volks USA carry one-off accessories like those glasses after they release? I'd love to get a pair, but with the shipping situation as it is, it makes a lot more sense to order from the store here than cough up $50 + tariffs over one item.

Definitely excited to see the new boy body, I hope they do some design changes. Would probably have to sell my old Kaito to fund the new one tho 😶

Great news. Now all the scalpers on Ebay and Mercari can go shove it. Lol. I'm glad I waited and can get him brand new.  

I'm excited for him! I'm not big on his head sculpt, but I know the DDB and DDSB bodies have historically left much to be desired. I hope they refreshed the vinyl shell designs going forward to something a little less skinny and immature, at least in the DDB department.

Yes to more Kaito!!!!!!  I second Monty on hoping other outfit sets get released for him. Volks would outdo themselves if they released a set of his Rosa Blue/Rosa Luno module! 

I'm really hoping they made significant changes for boy body 2.0 , I'll double dip if that's the case.

I know it's extremely unlikely but I hold out this forlorn hope that the new DDB body will be SD17-sized. I mean, there's a DDDy, why can't we have a Dynamite Boy? 😂

Especially when they have IPs with masculine anime boys that would complement very well with their existing DD collabs (FFXIV, the Fate series [though they did SD boys for that one, which is an interesting choice]).

Do we know like on average how long before dolls like Kaito go on sale after they’re announced? I really want him but gotta have time to save up haha. 
 

I also can’t wait to see what the new boy body will look like though I hope it still fits the Dollfie Dream girl outfits ^u^

Main points: Limited availability at Dolpa + preorder, preorder everywhere else, online orders are from the 16th to the 24th of January and delivery in summer 2027. (People who order at Dolpa will get them in January)

Like 2B his 2.0 head is now slightly smaller to better fit the new 2.0 body, although it can’t be too much smaller because the Washin Palette glasses are noted to fit both Kaitos.
 

They also revised the boy body, apparently the shoulders are broader but it’s hard for me to tell from the pictures. I look forward to direct comparison pics! The change was enough for them to have to alter his outfit though, they changed the silhouette to better fit the new body.

He comes with the peace hands again.

edit: Ok it’s much more obvious when you put them side by side side. My Kaito has been in a fluffy coat all year and I forgot how bobble headed he actually is. note that these images weren’t exactly the same size so I had to make Kaito 1 the same size as the Kaito 2 image, so it might be slightly off, but the balance between his head/body is definitely improved!

The colours also look brighter on Kaito 2 but that could just be the lighting.

The proportion balance of 2.0 is definitely nice! (I do actually find OG to be cute, though.)

 

2.0 pictures do look bluer, it is very noticeable on the shoes/trousers. But... yeah, hard to tell if it's just lighting/editing.

This tweet shows a good comparison of that above pic with his v1 arms and chest. Since mine always has coats and stuff on, I really forgot how scrawny they actually are. I’m wondering what it’s like inside, I wouldn’t expect them to change the frame so if they haven’t I hope that his arms stay on properly. The boy smartdolls had a huge flaw where their arms would always fall off because bigger chest and arms made the frame ‘float’ inside too much (no idea if the newer ones fixed this), and I always assumed that’s Volks kept the boys closer to the girls proportions for a similar reason.

I hope this opens the way for more collab potential with male characters.

It might still just be his platform boots 😭 but I would be happy if DDB 2.0 is even a little taller by default.
