finnleo Posted August 1 A bit of a random update, but DollBot decided to make a english twitter/x account. Thankfully this english side does also announce the restocks which takes a little guessing out of the jp account posts, although the forward notice is short as always, about a day or two. Incidently today at 20:00 JST the futabas will be restocked if anyone is interested in those, espcially the darkness futaba that sold out pretty fast last time, also with some additional clothing pieces although no full new outfits. Although I wish they would restock some of the older clothing items like the knit tank tops in white, and some wigs. Amusingly they have a big graphic about worldwide shipping being now open, when its been available for quite some time now, but... 2
SiofraLu Posted September 12 Hello! I recently got a Dollbot Alice in Diamond skin. I’m very surprised by how loose and wobbly she is! I’m wondering if this is normal for Dollbot? My only other vinyl dolls are Smart Doll and Angel Philia, both of which feel much more solid and stable. Is there anything I can do to improve it, or should I just adjust my expectations? She’s super cute and I love her I just want to make sure there isn’t something wrong. 😅
finnleo Posted September 12 (edited) 1 hour ago, SiofraLu said: normal for Dollbot In terms of out of box experiences, the seven I have at the moment have all needed some tightening of joints, but havent been hopeless. almost every joint can be tightened to your own preference if I recall correct. One thing that will add to the sensation is that the vinyl pieces are intentionally very loose ontop of the inner frame (this is a bit of an enthusiast product, if you look at the design people, things start to make a little more sense.). Alicias do come with the unitorso, so that makes up for some feeling of slack. But if they feel a little "Rattly" for the lack of a better description, that is a feature. But they are solid performers in posing after some tuning, although they cant really stand barefoot because of the round soles of the feet. SiofraLu Posted September 12 Thank you @finnleo! I’ve never tightened the joints on a vinyl doll before, I’ll have to look into it (I’m always so scared of breaking them). I did change her to the two piece torso and I know that doesn’t help, but I was hoping to have that possibility.
finnleo Posted September 13 If you've changed the torso, you're already over the biggest hurdle to get to the main adjusments. The hip adjustments are inside the thighs, which might be a little more annoying to adjust. But I think Dollbot still gives extra inner arm and leg inner frame bits with the tan girls (at least my tan Kaya and Alicia came with them) so you have the ability to take a look at whats inside the vinyl, and what bit might be too loose without having to pull the vinyl off just to have a peek. Just take your time setting the joints up, if things start to sqeak its probably too tight, though I think the joints would probably barely move at that point.
SiofraLu Posted September 13 Thank you! They did send those extra parts so I will study them before I do anything. Each time I pose her I seem to be a little more comfortable as well.
