Mochi Ashi v1 Legs Keep Falling Off

Recommended Posts

What the title says... It's driving me up the wall!

I adore how her legs look, but when I try and move her legs even just to have her sit, they pop off! I REALLY struggle to get them back in place, and would like to be able to pose her sitting without this issue, but I don't know what to do to fix it...

(I only had them set on the darkly colored desk mat for a second, don't worry)!

Edit: Her arms also struggle a bit to hold poses, but I feel like that just means she needs some skeleton tightening. I don't know how to do that myself, so I'm planning to ask staff whenever I make it to Doll Point.

Couldn't even manage to get them back on this time so now I'm like full frustration crying, so absolutely any advice no matter how small would be greatly helpful.

Put the leg with the long peg in first, then attach the other one onto it. It is a lil tricky but if you wriggle it around a bit (I think there are also notches inside the leg you gotta line it up with) you should be able to get it on. I always squeeze the thighs together to ensure the pegs are attached properly. I also do this everytime I take Sasara out of a sitting pose incase things did come loose.

Sadly it’s a common problem with the mochi ashi and DDdy bodies due to the thighs being larger than the frames themselves - allowing it to move and come loose when you pose them, especially when in a sitting pose. The leg with the shorter peg is usually the culprit here, so I shoved a bunch of cotton pads down my Sasara’s leg and around the frame to help keep it in place lol long term not sure how it’ll hold up, but for now I haven’t had another issue with her legs falling off

Tightening the screws in the frame is actually pretty simple depending on what ones you need to fix. I recently retightened my MDD’s joints cause I also had issues with her arm not holding itself up. There’s a screw inside the main body where the arm connects that you’ll have to take the head and bust piece off for, that one is pretty simple to do. But if it still isn’t holding a pose after tightening that one you’ll have to take apart the arms themselves to get to their frames - which is a pain in the ass. I had to heat up the vinyl with a hairdryer for ages, open up the top of the shoulder where the peg comes out with my fingers, then use my teeth to grab onto the peg and pull the frame out lmao tightening that immediately fixed her arm problem thou. If it’s an issue with the lower arm joints then just do the same thing and the arms should be good ! But if you can travel to doll point that definitely is easier, though I think it’s always good to learn how your doll works internally and how to fix things if stuff does come apart ! It feels scary at first but these dolls are built with the ability to take them apart anyway

Make sure the C-shaped outer pegs are properly aligned with the matching socket in the torso frame.

The guide on the Volks website
https://dollfie.volks.co.jp/dd/support/basebody/howto_ddf3_dd.html#mnlEX01
and this thread might help.

If you still have trouble putting her back together, try assembling her without the lower torso vinyl shell. That should give you a better view and control about how everything fits together. Once that has worked out, all joints should now be aligned properly and it should be easier to put her together with the shell back on.

Apart from that, as @Angelpaws suggested, occasionally squeeze her hips together to keep the pegs from creeping back out of the socket.

We were doing this... But it still took three of us and several hours to actually get her legs to attach again :c

I also do squeeze her thighs together super often because of her past leg pop outs.

EDIT: I have LEARNED how the skeleton works! Turned out we were jamming her legs in incorrectly, which is why she couldn't sit properly at all. Now she can sit! And if her legs pop out again I actually know what I'm doing!! I just hope we didn't damage her skeleton at all, but it seems sturdy.

Oh gosh that sounds like a nightmare LOL! Her arms are just a little loose, not enough to make her un-posable or anything, and after the absolute fiasco that was her legs today I don't wanna try and mess with it right now honestly.

My plan is to take her to Doll Point, but try and learn while they fix her up if possible! My Japanese isn't the best but I'm hoping I'll manage.

Thank you! I don't know why the site didn't notify me of replies even though I checked the box so I'm seeing this a bit late, but I'm gonna study up now!

I just took a leap of faith and took her legs back off to see if I actually understood this and...

I did!! It was SO easy this time! Thank you so so SO much!

Quick not polished photo I grabbed on my phone of her sitting above my desk for a bit while I work!! Success!!!

(My nervous lil self used some of my shorts to make a white cushion under her after taking this photo, of course :3)

My mochi ashi v1 had this issue too, usually brought on by trying to make her sit. Something about the angle seemed to pushed the thighs out of the hip sockets. I ended up buying a stain protection suit and using it as a sort of 'rubber band' to keep pressure on the joints enough to more or less stay in place. The doll had to live on the stand, but it made the leg stop falling out. I'm sorry this was so frustrating for you, I can completely relate. :(

I have noticed her body suits are very helpful for keeping her legs in check!

It is nice to have her lounge around without it sometimes though, I feel bad if she's in it all the time XD!

She's been sat in a sitting position on my desk for a while now without issues, so I'm hopeful that I put her together better this time!
