I hope they're still accepting preorders because I love Hetalia and I would be so sad if I can't get them. I can't wait to see the versions for America and Italy, those two are too goofy so I wonder if they will come with open mouths/big smiles the pure neemo designs for Japan and England are spot on! (except for England's hair, I think the color should have been lighter).

jazijaz, did you notice that Italy is available for preorder now? He is VERY cute, and he's on the new S body instead of an XS!

I'm actually very impressed with Azone because these latest releases look just like the characters and their design look very different from each other. I'm glad they're not like their generic Pureneemos characters that are released over and over again with the only difference being their eye and hair color and I was really bored with their latest pure neemo XS boys because of that reason. This is fresh and well done. I hope they continue doing different anime characters!

Aren't they wonderful, Yumeko? I was really impressed with their engineering and how nice and heavy they are for their size. And the clothes are so cute!

I was hoping to keep my Ex Cute collection at 4 but there's no way I'm not getting Mermaid Princess Minami, she's too amazing. I also feel a slight connection to her because I got to see her in person when she was first unveiled at winter Wonfest earlier this year.

Plus I still hope I can get Little Princess Nina eventually ;; I missed her preorder cos I was saving for Japan at the time.

Hi everyone. I don't have any azone dolls, but eventually I do want to get one, but I have a couple of questions before I decide if I want to buy one or not. First is how accurate are the dolls to their product pictures? Whenever I look at an owner's picture, the face and hair usually look kinda off. Also, how bad is the hair without using azone hair wax? Sorry if these are common questions, I'm just really curious person. >.

It depends on the doll. I think the Ex Cute and Sahra's a la mode range dont look too different to the company photos - although most of the time you do need to spray some product like Azone's doll mist or even just water and use a comb on their bangs to get it to look exact. In my case I'm not too fussed with them looking exact, though - I think they're adorable regardless. Although, I did have to very, very slightly snip my Aika's bangs a bit shorter because they seemed far too long and hung over her eyes too much. That was pretty nerve-wracking but I managed to do it without ruining her bangs ;;

 

As for the anime range, they're more hit and miss, probably because they have a LOT more product in their hair in the company shoots, and require quite a lot of styling to replicate. Also, I noticed that the company photos for the anime dolls always use the prototype ... which has painted eyes. As in, very obviously hand-painted - if you look closely at the photos with a closeup of the face you can even see the brush strokes. The actual doll of course looks more professionally 'printed', but that always struck me as weird that they'd do that for the official photos.

 

I dont actually own any of the anime dolls because they have yet to release a character I'd actually want as a doll (plus 99% of them are schoolgirls which don't really interest me as fullsets tbh) but I have seen them in their boxes in the Azone store etc, as well as people's unboxing photos. Also, this is just my opinion, but I think there's a huge difference in the quality between Ex Cute/Sahra's A la mode and the anime character dolls. The anime character dolls are cute and all, but their clothes just never look half as good. I think its because they try too hard to make them look show-accurate, but the show is 2D, so they just look kinda...flat, and in some cases even tacky. But the Ex Cute/Sahra's girls (and boys) have absolutely beautiful clothes. I know they're probably completely different teams that take care of the different doll lines but when I see pictures of an Ex Cute - especially the newer ones - next to one of the anime dolls it's a little jarring how much better the Ex Cute looks.

 

Do you have any opportunity to see one in person before deciding to buy? Sometimes people like to take them to doll meets if you have any near you.

Thanks for all the information, it's very helpful .I've never seen one in person, since I'm not sure if there are any doll meets near me. Does seeing them in person make a huge difference? Also for now, I think I'll just wait for a release that interests me. I actually think I'll wait for this one:

I guess it would make a difference in that you'd be able to know if you like how they look IRL but I feel like that goes for most dolls. For example even though the photos are beautiful, I didn't realise just how beautiful a DD was until I saw some at a meetup, and I went from 'I kinda want one' to 'yeah I'm getting one'.

 

I'm definitely getting Minami! But, a word of warning, she's gonna sell out fast. As in, within an hour fast if even that much. Unfortunately ex cutes tend to be clickwar releases although it always varies how quickly they'll sell out - there are some that stay in stock for days and some that are gone within half an hour.

I feel like Minami will be very popular because she's not only a character not released often, but she also has that beautiful pink hair which isn't too common with ex cutes either. She really stands out. Good luck to us both.

Her exact preorder date isn't set yet but we'll probably know soon.

Yeah, set your clock for Minami's release, and maybe have a backup plan since not all shops open preorder at the same time. At least with the recent Lien release in this series, they opened a second round of preorders and she wasn't hard to get after that. Hopefully Azone will do the same for Minami!

OMG their outfits are adorable!

Wow , I never knew how much of a difference seeing something in person made. Also, I didn't know how bad azone pre-orders were until yesterday. I was on amiami checking something when I saw snow white aika's pre-order start and end in the matter of mintues O.Olll. I'm definitely going to make sure I'm prepared for Minami.

In contrast with Torino I only own azone characters dolls (Nyaruko and Chitoge )

 

As he said the bigest issue is the clothes, not only because of the 2D thing, but also because since they are the anime look, the clothes are a lot less conplex, Snow white Aika (wich I've preordered ) clothe's are a lot more complex and have much more posibilities.

 

In the issue of the faces I believe they look a lot better in person that the pre-order photos, and the hair is a hit and miss, Nyaruko's hair came perfect (as my friend's kinoko juice Chiika) and Chitoge's hair was a mess and needed a lot of work (as my friend's sahra pink pastisserie). Also the quality of the fiber was very diferent between these 4 dolls, Chiika's hair was the best and Sahra's the worst ^^U.

In my experience the newest series in the Ex✩Cute and Sahra's a la Mode lines aren't as high quality as some of the older dolls that I've acquired second hand, to be honest. :C From the Otogi no Kuni series I've gotten dolls with uneven bangs and other hair problems, the worst being Princess Nina whose hair was much shorter than in the promo photos, and the fibers were bent backwards on the right side of her head due to bad packaging, so they didn't frame her face nicely like they were supposed to. Little Maid Chisa's pigtails were also messy and her bangs needed a lot of trimming. I posted a box opening of the dolls, so you can see how they looked upon arrival: here.

 

Other dolls from the Otogi no Kuni series who needed their bangs trimmed were Match Girl Chiika and Briar Rose Lien... and Little Red Hood Koron had messy twintails, although my doll's hair wasn't quite as bad as what some other people received. I also had a problem with my Lien's outfit, as the lace on her skirt is sewn to to an unhemmed edge, which started fraying and then the lace had nothing to hold onto and came off. I was able to sew the lace back on, but it's only a matter of time until the fabric edge starts fraying again. I'm quite disappointed that they would leave it unhemmed like that. I need to be really careful with her skirt from now on. .__.;

 

From the Pink! Pink! a la Mode series that was released at the same time as Otogi no Kuni I got only regular version Yuzuha and Lycee, and luckily I haven't had as much issues with those as I did with the Otogi no Kuni dolls. It's especially disappointing because the Otogi no Kuni dolls are collabs with designers and cost more, and yet the quality isn't very good... I suppose it's because the Azone dolls have gotten more popular and they receive more orders than they did in the past, but it's still a shame that their quality control doesn't seem to be as strict as it used to be. :C My favourite series is the Komorebimori no Doubutsutachi and I've got no complaints of the dolls' hair nor clothes, they are very good quality, and the same goes for dolls that are older than those. Only with some white shoes, the glue has turned yellow over the years, but that's understandable.

 

But well, I've liked the concepts for the new dolls, so I've still ordered the ones that I've liked in their promo photos and hoped that I'll get a doll with as few issues as possible... xD;; Now I'm waiting to get my Sera of Green Gables, it seems like her hair has been made a bit messy on purpose already in the promo photos, so I'm anxious to see how the actual doll will look like. I guess you could say that I'm a bit neurotic about my dolls' hair, ahah... ^^;;

Jumping in the thread! I just noticed the newly announced Sahra's while checking the website! The regular version (left on the picture) looks so gorgeous! ヾ(´∀｀○)ﾉ I love her color scheme, and feel that her hair and eyes complement each other very well. I'm not too keen on the light pink+white combo of her Direct Store version, though (*ﾟｰﾟ)ゞ Is anyone planning on getting her ?

 

gosh Azone dolls are so cute! I don't really have any interest in buying a bigger one, simply because I like DD's faces more? But you never know. If I saw one I really liked, I might get it. They seem really expensive though :c

 

I have a Pureneemo Cheshire Cat Aika. I REALLY want the Sweet Dreams Chiika if I can ever find her. Maybe once I get all of the bigger dolls I want, I'll start hoarding little Azones xD Their clothes and hairstyles are so cute, it's really hard to resist.

I'm currently waiting for the 9th of June when this cutie goes on preorder.

Mermaid Princess Minami! I knew it was only a matter of time before I caved on one of the Otogi no Kuni dolls and ever since I saw her at Wonfest back in february I knew she was the one. She'll be my first M sized pure neemo too.

She looks lovely! I missed out on Lil' fairy Riam, I hope Minami doesn't sell out as quickly.

Holey Moley that was rough I was able to snag one from Hobby Link. She sold out so quickly!
