Hello! I have never done any doll face ups before or anything like that, I need help with a face up for a custom Splatoon BJD [Splatoon as in the video game about squids]! The face looks like this: [The last image is from the game, and I want the doll face to look just like that.] The face plate [which is tan] has holes for the eyes, so I will get resin ones, and the eyebrows will be purple. I don't want it to have any blush. I have looked up doll face up tutorials, but non of them are for something simple like this. I am thinking of buying Derwent watercolor pencils to draw the eyeliner, eyebrows, and mouth, then spray it with Mr. Super Clean, but am I doing it right? How do I practice? The face plate is being shipped, so I cannot practice on the inside, and I have seen people talking about using paper cups to practice on. People online also talk about using pastels, but what are those used for? I also have shaky hands when it comes to drawing small details on things, how do I prevent this when I do it? Sorry if these are dumb questions! I really don't know how to do this, and will GREATLY appreciate any help at all, thank you!!!

I bought an Imomodoll Ruby A head awhile back and have taken a few wild swings at a face. I'm not GREAT at illustrating but I'd say I'm competent and I'm looking to spend as little money as possible on this hobby so I really want to be able to do my own. I laid down a couple coats of Mr. Super Clear and came up with a base sketch. It's going to take a lot of practice and several attempts, so I'm going to do a fresh sketch every single evening during the work week to facilitate that. It's *really* not much to look at now but I'm hopeful that I'll be able to improve over time!

Hey friends! I went to the art supplies store to pick up some things for Kiyora's first faceup (mainly because all my previous supplies expired) and I noticed these "Pastel pencils" and I wondered if anyone had used them? I rely pretty heavily on watercolor pencils when doing resin faceups because I have chronic hand tremors and fine lines are Very Hard, but I know watercolor pencils stain vinyl and was resigning myself to many shaky lines until I saw these. Are they okay to use? I only grabbed two in case they're not. They say "Bruynzeel Holland Pastel" on them. I couldn't really find much info anywhere about use in faceups.

Hello, Recently I successfully de-stained a doll around the eyes and lips. I used Removez it stain remover per recommendations I saw online. As I did not have the dedicated cleaner for it, I used the alternative that was listed, white vinegar, to remove the residue. I cleaned with alcohol, mr clean magic eraser, and soap afterwards to be sure. I let it dry for 3 days. When attempt to seal the doll, where the previous stain remover was goes glossy vs matte (only where I previously de-stained). I wiped the sealant off. Let it dry another 2 days, and reattempted again. It is less so but still drying glossy in those areas with no 'tooth'. Now, I am not sure if its left over residue or the head needs even longer before sealing, as the head in those areas is a little soft/tacky but dry prior to sealing. Does anyone have experience or suggestions? Your help would be greatly appreciated as I really want to give her a new look, and hope the head isnt ruined. Thanks!
