Tierparkzone Posted August 1, 2021 (edited) Thanks again for all the nice comments. While comments are always welcome, they are by no means required. 😁 And now back to business: After more than a month of waiting, my beach background finally arrived. Now the girls can spend the summer at the beach even without leaving the house. On 6/23/2021 at 11:55 PM, Testament said: I point my light to the ceiling and make it bounce down on the scene. This also contribute to diffuse the light (if the ceiling is white obviously). Thanks for the tip. I used to do this but with the diffuser on and it ended up still creating shadows. Taking the diffuser off definitely works better in tandem with the background scrolls. Kyrie got the new Volks bikini, that was released recently. And we have ice cream! ... highly contested ice cream! Until next time! When you put up this post, I was thinking "Kinda looks like the one I have on order." and now that I have it in hand, I'd say it's definitely the same. Do you get your background scrolls from Photoscreen SEN as well? Or it might be a stock image that several printing services like to use as a background. Anyway - pretty cool, that our girls are able to stop by the same beach. 😁 Photo Story - Photo Thread - make your own signature like this

Never seen anything similar since then on Manda. I was lucky. That's preety cool, yes 😄
Tierparkzone Posted August 8, 2021 (edited) Just a couple test shots using the other backgrounds that I ordered together with the beach one. Until next time! Tierparkzone Posted August 17, 2021 (edited) I got myself a portrait lens recently. You can see the first test shots in the previous post but now I had a bit more time to play around. It's a comparatively simple/ inexpensive lens, but I think it does a very decent job. As for the theme today, it's been raining without end the past few days and it's untypically cold for a Japanese summer, so lazing around at home is the best you can do. Or something like that... Tierparkzone Posted October 22, 2021 (edited) Recently, I've been to busy to do a proper photo shoot. So for now, have a couple of snapshots I took not too long ago while playing around with camera and flash settings. Until next time! baldylox Posted October 22, 2021 What a bunch of cuties! I like Chitose's look for sure, she's adorable. And the choker in the 3rd pic is really nice, it gives her a very adult look. 😉 Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop. Tierparkzone Posted December 18, 2021 (edited) This evening, I stopped by the Marunouchi area (near Tokyo Station) to check out the Christmas decorations. I had Chitose in tow, and managed to take a couple nice pictures. - Enjoy: Until next time! Tierparkzone Posted December 19, 2021 Thanks for all the nice comments, everyone! 5 hours ago, ChrisFhey said: Nice photos! Do people ever react to someone taking photos of dolls in public? In Japan, people tend to mind their own business when out and about. So you usually just get a couple of curious looks when taking doll photos. Last year, while doing the shoot at Tennouzu Isle, a young boy came up to me and asked me what i was doing. - To which I replied: "I'm taking photos." And Kanata with her lightsaber in Yokohama apparently sparked a few conversations amongst passers by - even though nobody approached us directly. Yesterday in Marunouchi, there were quite a few people going about. But many taking photos themselves - of the scenery, of their girlfriends, I counted at least four couples having their wedding photos taken there and a group of guys lining up to photograph a single girl (which I reckon was a cosplayer). So one guy taking photos of a doll doesn't stand out too much, I guess... I heard someone exclaiming "Kawaii!" in my vicinity, but if this was in response to Chitose or to something else, I can't say. 31 minutes ago, Chise said: These look amazing! oh share your bokeh secrets with us, mere mortals Basically it's: keep motif and background far apart (which definitely is easier outdoors) open your aperture as wide as possible smaller motif = more bokeh (so if a tighter crop is possible, zoom or move in a bit more) For most of the pictures yesterday, I used my Canon EF 50mm f1:1.8 STM, which is great for stuff like this. However, the separation to the trees in the back was quite big, so I actually had to stop down (sometimes to f1:4) to keep some definition in the background. So even with a slower lens, you should be able to pull off something similar. 1 1 Photo Story - Photo Thread - make your own signature like this
chef_mai Posted December 19, 2021 What are you using as a stand in that Marunouchi photoshoot? I see a rubber-tipped rod that makes contact with the ground but don't see a base plate for a stand.

Smart Dolls have a diff way of balance - they have a small hole in their lower backs, and the stick just goes down... no base! Think of a tripod balancing

As @Chise already stated, yes - the keyword is "Smart Doll Telescopic Stand" - a feature sorely missed in all my other dolls... Another thing I'd like to share about bokeh for people who are interested is that the longer your lens' focal length, the easier it is to get nice, smooth bokeh at the same aperture. So, bokeh with an 85mm lens at f/1.8 would be smoother than bokeh with a 50mm lens at f1.8. There's a pretty cool depth of field simulator in which you can simulate what I mentioned: https://dofsimulator.net/en/ e.g.: Try setting a 50mm lens to f/1.8 at 100cm focus distance and an 85mm lens to f/1.8 at 170cm focus distance. It gets you similar framing, but the bokeh of the latter will be smoother.
Tierparkzone Posted December 19, 2021 Another useful thing is, for a given combination of motif size (framing), f-stop number and sensor size, the depth of field remains more or less constant - no matter the focal distance (you'll have to adjust the distance to the motif to keep the framing the same). You can actually try this in the simulator. However, this is usually more useful for keeping things in focus.
