I wouldn't count on it, at least not any time soon. Danny has already released licensed dolls who would have looked more appropriate in shorter bodies, and they all used the standard Smart Doll body. Similarly, he confirmed dolls of some of his own original characters who I'm told should be shorter than Mirai, but they use the standard body as well

I'm not expecting anyone to dismantle their doll to try this, but I noticed that they sell the Smart Doll frame by itself and it got me thinking could you give your DD an upgrade to a Smart Doll frame using the existing DD covers? I know I wouldnt be able to use the telescopic stand but that wouldn't bother me to much at this point at least it would be a nice solution until I could save for a full body

 

After having seen a smart doll in person and just amazed at that spine and the amount of extra poseability it gives.

Nope, not without doing extensive modifications to the frame or vinyl shells.

 

The standard SmD frame wouldn't fit inside the DD vinyl due to the differences in the frames' sizing. The waist/hip areas especially won't fit due to the larger size of the round ball-like hip joints the SmD has. Other size issues like the knee areas and shoulder joints would also cause issues due to the frames not being placed in the same spots.... meaning that the holes in the interior won't line up with the pegs for arms and legs like they're supposed to.

 

I've got a bare SmD frame and thought about this before but after looking at them next to each other, it's just not going to work without doing HUGE modifications to both the SmD frame and the DD vinyl covers. Articulation and posability would also suffer due to how the vinyl parts would fit together.... if at all, on the SmD frame.

I'm unhappy with the newer releases and want the first release Mirai or Kizuna fullset.

You could also try Facebook groups for selling/buying bjds and DDs.

Call me stupid but I still don't get the allure of the high heel feet. I have LOTS of high heel shoes and they all fit my girls feet just fine. What is the reason for these being needed? What's the big deal with them? The inner frame will still be at an angle so it can't be for better support. Is it solely for aesthetics?

I'm with ya BaldyLox. The only reason for high heel feet is if you're using some sort of high heel sandals, where you can see most of the foot. The current Smart Doll heels work fine with the regular feet.

I do think heel feet look better! I'm excited about them.

I thought it was for the appearance of the bent toes. Not just in heels, but in other poses too. Azone recently posted pics of their newest pure neemo doll which has a much more articulated body and has optional heeled feet - in this cute pose:

That 'tip-toe' look is quite dainty and cute, and wouldn't be possible with regular feet.

 

But I agree that its much less a necessity than with resin dolls, although people were clamouring for them so I guess they're happy then.
