Hi! Might be a dumb question, but will black gouache paint stain a doll? I did very watered down chalk pastels for my DDH-03's eyelashes and brows for her original faceup, but I wanted to darken the lashes somehow, and have seen people use black paint on their dolls. I had also heard some people say it stained their dolls, and that I should avoid red, blue, or black paints or pastels. I know this is probably a complete noob question, but I'm just a bit scared to do it and ruin the faceup! Not really related, but does anyone know good techniques to do natural size and placement freckles? I haven't done them on her yet, so I just wanted some tips before I began! Thanks!!!

I was very nervous to wipe her default faceup (even if I have a specific idea for a doll, I feel so bad wiping someone else's work), but I'm really happy with how she ultimately turned out. In general, I tend towards more stylized faceups anyway, but this was my first time doing one this anime-esque. 20200815_014929 by Manaphyyy, on Flickr This was the first attempt, which I wiped pretty quickly. The way I did her eyes made them look pretty far apart and her smile was a bit too flat/wide. I also tried giving her nostrils to try and have her fit in more with my resin girls, but it looked a bit uncanny so I ended up not doing that the second time. 20200817_004627 by Manaphyyy, on Flickr 20200818_214632 by Manaphyyy, on Flickr After looking for a few more examples closer to what I wanted, I started again, and this is what I ended up with. I'm not 100% satisfied with the eyebrows, but they're mostly hidden so it's not the end of the world (she'll probably get a new faceup again eventually anyway). I'm always learning with faceups, and I'm glad Celia looks more like I want her to now. 💖 Bonus silly headless shot:

I ordered a body off of Mandarake back in March and it just arrived, which got me looking for heads for my (soon-to-be) new girl. I know that eBay and Mandarake have heads with face-ups, but where else is it possible to buy heads? At the same time I've been looking for an artist to commission to possibly do a face-up if I can't find a head online that's already done, but it seems all artists commissions that I have found are closed 💔 So what's your go to place for looking for heads with a faceup? And where do you look for artists to do a faceup? -
Hello, I've seen lots of smart dolls and there are a couple that I like but I'm worried about wiping a faceup has anyone done it? any issues problems etc? I'm looking at Coco skin, Tea skin and Cinnamon skin. I figure milk is probably the same as DD and can be changed easily but I'm concerned about what would happen if you wiped one of the darker skin tones. Let me know please! Any faceup artist etc I would love to see some samples before I jump on board and buy a girl I really am loving how Prowess and Genesis look but I am thinking I might want to change the face a bit any advice would be great!

I did my first doll mod (ddh-01) and anime face up yesterday! I have a question if anyone can answer- to get that nice smooth look, do faceup artists use paint thinner or just water down the acrylics? I’m thinking of wiping this and trying my hand at it again this up coming weekend. This is a custom doll of one of my characters btw!
